Honestly, there's truth to it. Eminem had TWO good albums a long-ass time ago and fell off since then. Since he's the only white rapper a lot of older white people have even heard of, he's still "da best rapper evah".

There are better white rappers. Hell, I would even say the southern white rappers like Rittz and Yelawolf have more technical skill than Em does.

They really shouldn't. If he was good enough to get produced by Dre, maybe Dre actually knows who's authentic in the biz. He was one of the first non-phony white people to do it and respected the genre, and I'd bet a lot of his fanbase is black, too.

I don't know, liked his stuff up until the Marshall Matters LP but I think him hitting it big with with that album made him move into a more safe and mainstream direction with The Eminem Show and by the time he released Relapse he'd lost a lot of the edge and soul that made his early work good.
I guess on a technical level he music is still good, but a lot of it does come off as over produced and empty.
