Literally all he had to do was apologize simply and not equivocate. Don't try to explain that it was some ironic super avant garde comedy bit that the audience just didn't get, don't let your cohosts call your audience stupid, that. I don't get why you think I want a fucking verbal essay, its clear that cause problems, I think you project a lot of deficiencies on people here that they don't have. Less is more, a simple "hey everybody, I said some really insensitive and stupid shit last show, I'm sorry." That's it. Drop a simple apology and move on. The more explaining and justification you do the shittier you look. This is why everybody hates apology videos. And for the record, saying you knew this was going to happen in your apology makes you look stupid. This is why I claim I'm smarter, they all said they knew this would happen, but went through with it anyway. I'm willing to bet this is a problem most people have. Because the average person is smart enough not to.
I understand this because its like internet 102. People that can give genuine apologies get a lot of leeway because they're just that, genuine. Nobody wants pathetic groveling, nobody wants equivocation, just admit you fucked up, apologize, and ideally don't do it again.
I'm not sure why this doesn't track for you, but then again, I take people at their word. TRS thinks you're stupid. I suppose I have to agree.
