I know I keep banging on the “read her god damn essay” drum and it is perhaps getting old, but FYI you can try to peak trans left-leaning people with it now. Especially if they are some flavor of feminist or egalitarian. TRAs fucked up by blowing it way out of proportion - they win when people don’t read it, but if you can convince somebody to just read it for their own edification the results are typically favorable.

I tested this theory last night on a group of friends who were dragging Rowling. None of them had any idea what the essay was about. Currently the chat is trying to figure out what the fuck happened to get her cancelled. I’m silently watching for now as there’s no need to guide the chat to it’s inevitable conclusion.

@The Jackal asked me to update the thread on how this turned out:

- to recap, all thought Rowling was a troon-lynching TERF and/or homophobe and were boycotting the game
of those who were active in the discussion:
- two have since bought TERF SIMULATOR 2023
- one has commented that she was completely shocked by the contents of the paper since it was not what she was expecting and needed to reread it because at first pass she agreed with all of it
- one proclaimed that when something blows up in the news and you find out it isn't true, somebody has an agenda or is hiding something
- one can't stop going over how flabbergasted they are at how badly Rowling was misrepresented
- two haven't really commented, but one is quiet and the other is one who bought TERF SIMULATOR 2023
- nobody's outright TERFed the discussion, but honestly they aren't going to do that, they'd do it on the inside. It's a waiting game at this point. Also I contend that the #1 way to peak is to be forced to interact with trans people IRL, I think at this point they're just primed.

So, perhaps my optimism about straight up peak transing them was a little ambitious, but I maintain that there is limited risk and high reward in encouraging folks to read the essay for themselves.

I have to thank you for posting this if only because I'm now looking forward to listening to the podcast series with JKR and Megan Phelps-Roper after learning about it. I always found the original maxim to be stupid and reductive (because men can be and are afraid of lots of things, including being killed). In this case it's accurate, but in reverse - troons are terrified of anyone openly disagreeing with them; TERFs actually have good cause to be afraid of getting murdered by these lunatics:
