There are no benefits to home births. None. Everything these women want can be done (within reason) at a hospital, with the added benefit of doctors being on standby should something go wrong. Even intermittent fetal monitoring (once every fifteen minutes in active labor) would have provided proof of Luna’s struggle in the womb. Her heart tones must have been down for quite some time to do such catastrophic damage to the brain. The egos on these women who would risk the well being of their babies to brag on social media bewilders and upsets me to no end (I am a labor and delivery nurse).
Robyn's own mother is a pediatric nurse, and I can't imagine her pain, frustration, and sorrow at how her daughter catastrophically damaged Luna's life.

Robyn herself was studying to be an RN before she flitted off to woo woo land. Tinfoil theory is that the coursework was too difficult for Robyn, which lead to her deep dive into woo where Instagram posts were more knowledgeable than anything a stupid medical professional knows.

(And her boyfriend beat the hell out of her after the baby’s funeral for some reason so there’s some crazy gossip for you).
Hopefully beat her for being a dumb enough bitch to kill their baby with a stupid home birth. This is what Glenn should unironically do to her, every time she spergs about natural birth.

It’s even more egregious coming from middle class American women. We have birth centers and even hospitals where you can squat in a kiddie pool if you must, you can forgo the epidural, you can bring your midwife or doula, you can chant and huff lavender, move around during labor, give birth on all fours, whatever crunchy thing you want to do. The rooms feel more like a hotel than a hospital room, but then there are actual doctors and nurses on hand in case shit goes sideways, and they’re actively monitoring to make sure it hasn’t.

Robyn is proof you can’t always just trust your body to do its thing. AND WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU RISK IT. THAT’S A BABY. 🎩

It's the ego and pure naiveté. They're completely ignorant to how badly things can go wrong during labor and delivery, and/or they think they're immune to such complications because "I'm having a healthy low risk pregnancy and my body was built to do this and women have been giving birth for a millennia!" (guess what, they've also been dying for a millennia)

If I tear and hemorrhage during birth, I want immediate access to a lifesaving blood transfusion. If an amniotic clot travels to my lungs and my heart stops beating, I want a team of doctors and nurses to provide CPR. I don't want to die, and I don't have to fucking die. So let's increase my odds of living, ya?

E- and home-birthers will accuse you of "fear-mongering" for mentioning the risks and complications of childbirth. As if these things are not extensively documented and experienced personally/deeply. I myself have had to code a mom who went into PEA due to an amniotic fluid embolism, and she died infront of me, that's not fear mongering that's me talking REAL LIFE SHIT

This has been my theory for a while now. The thing about Robyn is she's unremarkable yet she must be special and above others. I bet not being able to finish nursing school was a huge narcissistic injury and what better way to cope than find an alternative that's not only better but negates allopathic medicine.
It doesn't matter her beliefs destroyed her firstborn. The woo façade must be upheld, otherwise Robyn will shatter to pieces. A relatively normal individual would take the blame and use her platform to help others learn from her mistake. But Robyn is weak, she has no innate confidence or sense of self so she has to carefully guard her fragile ego to protect herself.. well from herself, from how she really feels about herself..
Yeah, this is psycho babble, I know, but Robyn is an excellent mess of narcissism to study if you're into that kind of stuff.

I think this is a pretty good assessment. Robyn, like most narcissists, is not smart. The only thing a narc is good at is appearing to be smart, via a combination of assertively doubling down on their wrongness and taking credit for the work of smarter people. Narcs cannot accept that they are ever wrong, and thus fail to learn from their mistakes. They will avoid circumstances where their weaknesses will be laid bare and, when they cannot avoid it, will rage and blame others when their ego is injured, instead of working to improve. Robyn is especially dumb, and nursing school (or probably even the pre-reqs) would be way too much for her to handle. It makes total sense that her response would be to reject the entire medical field rather than accept the fact that the medical field rejected her first.

It's just baffling. I somehow have friends who wanted to do home births. Thank fuck they changed their minds. Just a simple Google search will show that 1/3 (over 1 million) of the births in the US alone in 2021 were via Cesarean. That's 1 million deliveries that were complicated enough that they could have killed the baby and/or the mother without medical intervention. This isn't even accounting for other high-risk pregnancies, and somehow people still buy into the crunchy granola bullshit that's super popular on social media right now and want to have home births. Complete lunacy.

What’s that about stopped clocks?

This one is, at its core, true. Gel nail polish uses uv light to cure, and uv light is proven to damage your skin cells — but then they leap from “this one manicure tool produces the same risks as tanning” to “manicures damage your DNA!!!!” And that’s how this woo woo shit spreads, one basically true fact means the rest must be true, right?

Wear fingerless gloves for gel manicures.

Mercola put out that scare article and I don’t trust anything from that site, so I had to google the studies. From 2007 to 2016, only two women had melanoma on hands with the possible correlation of gel manicures. Not much of a risk. The recent study that has crunchy mama’s and Mercola writing scare articles wasn’t on actual people, just cell models. Too preliminary to state a fact.

All derms will say don’t let UV rays touch you. It’s been known to cause mutations for years and certainly damage skin. As a former sun worshiper who is starting to see early wrinkles on arms and places where I really greased up, they are right, and I’m glad younger women have given up the deep tan trend.

But gel nails? Women should weigh the very infinitesimal risk of 10 minutes a month of exposure to the rewards of easy nail care. Maybe worth it. Maybe not. Sure wear gloves if you are scared, it won’t hurt. (Depending on what the gloves are made out of, I suppose.) There is still no proof, but whatever makes a person feel better. (OT: I use a base nail product called Perfect Formula and my formerly weak nails are now long and strong -and cause typos-and I’ve given up manicures and just polish at home. If you have problem nails, give it a go.).

The risk of dying of cancer due to gel nails is so much less than deciding to have a home birth it makes me wonder what this bitch is even doing or protecting herself from. What does she think is dangerous and what doesn’t she? She’s out 20 minutes every day in the Vegas sun doing her Santana or whatever, that’s a lot more than a lifetime of gel manicures. I think she just reads a quack site like Mercola, hears DNA damage without understanding what that even means, and spreads it like she’s protecting her followers and has zero insight about her hypocrisy.

But she is dumb, as has been pointed out.

In case she’s reading us mean people: Hey fatty. Since you like a sound bite? Best way to repair DNA is releasing an antioxidants into the body through exercise. Stick Luna in a corner and get into the garage with your husband.

Mercola put out that scare article…
Thank you for that summary, I wasn’t sure where the line was between what I said and sperging. Especially since the details aren’t entirely relevant to my frustration with people taking a tiny kernel of truth and following it to wooland and dead babies.

I do my own with polygel and gel-x and could spend all day rambling about manicures and nail art and such.

Robyn, we are mammals. That’s what we do, push out babies and mostly breastfeed them. It’s not a great accomplishment.

Agreed.

A really gross realization may be lurking in the back of Robyn's brain: You have a potato child and miscarriage, and ONLY ONE normal child headed into your geriatric childbearing years. You're not very good at this motherhood thing that should be instinctive! innate! ~☆Magical☆~, even!

She's trying to stuff it down by doubling down on the woo.
Glenn, give it up. You may as well eat McDonald’s and sit on the couch, you have the weirdest non buff body ever.
I'm glad someone else noticed. For all the working out shit he posts, his bod isn't great. Could be the booze and Robyn's "nutrition".

Yeah a healthy person who failed nursing school might be sad, but can accept that they don't have what it takes for an extremely difficult field and try to find something they are good at. A narcissist can't accept being anything other than the smartest, most special, most successful person around so they aren't going to have a healthy reaction to something like failing nursing school (even though as I said, it's a difficult field many people can't do so it's not like there's any shame if you can't).

Butthurt about failing nursing school being the basis for her woo fixation and hatred of modern medicine is my guess too.

Also like…I have a lot of friends in nursing, and the stories they tell me about their fellow nurses lead me to believe that a not-insignificant number of fairly stupid people somehow manage to become nurses, even though nursing school IS tough (exhibit A: anti-vax nurses). To me, that really speaks to how dumb Robyn is. She couldn’t even do what other dumb people manage to do.

do we know if she was ever even admitted into an RN or even an LPN program? Or do we think she flunked out at the gen-Ed stage?

I saw something on her IG, might have been glimpses of the "empath" academy, where she said she first tried being a doctor, then a nurse, then a nutritionist, but none of those fields truly resonated with her or allowed her to heal others the way she would have wanted.. that's when she discovered energy work... My guess is she may have been admitted into some kind of medical program, whether it be RN, LPN or some pre-med program (forgive my ignorance, don't know much about any of these fields), but struggled with the coursework, which made her downgrade to being a "nutritionist" with no credentials. Of course, in typical Robyn fashion, she made it sound like none of those paths were good enough for her and her unique talents, but it was likely the other way around.
