So it's marriage for women that are too old and men that can't provide for their wives. Makes sense. That explains the "we were both looking for specific things we can provide each other" comment early on.

"The practice, usually a temporary alliance in which the wife waives some conventional marriage rights such as cohabitation and financial support, has been legally permitted in the conservative Muslim kingdom for decades."

So they don't have to live together and he doesn't have to provide for her financially. That's not at all how she presented the situation before she went to Kuwait. It was all about him providing for her for the rest of her life.

what a fucked up culture.
this Misyar marriage of course has zero chance of being recognized as a regular marriage by any civilized country , i presume.
so she pays him to be his wife by name, to be a respected Muslim woman in Kuwait. He is not even obligated to limit himself to her. what a romantic idea.

No, it probably wouldn't be recognized as legit by a foreign country as-is. But if they, say, petitioned the court to legitimize it legally, then they'd be fine.

This tracks with what Gunt actually did. "Two weddings," one at the courthouse with witnesses, the other immediately after she arrived. They probably had to wait a bit before they could get it legitimized.

The madgunt actually did it.

Is this true about the Kia?
How she'll move her and Peetz rubbish if she already sold it?

How many of us would say our car is “almost paid off” if we still owed $9k on it. She can’t sell it to a dealer without the loan being paid in full….either by herself or by the dealer paying it out before giving her the balance. She’s going to have to attempt a shady private sale to offload it. If she can last the distance to cash in her hand (very doubtful), she’ll skip the country with that cash. If not, the Kia will be left behind at the luxury villa with all her other junk, including her ex-fiancé and now probably bankrupt Peetz.

According to Chantal she’s having the car appraised tomorrow and expecting the valuation to come in between $5-6k….dreamer!!! The appraiser will crack that boot open to check her spare tyre and find bags of rubbish, old dirty wigs, and her trap house filthy underwear. Say a silent prayer for that poor person.

this, i do not believe.

Okay, I'll ask the dumb question - if it CAN be legitimized through the court, why doesn't Kuwait just make it legal to begin with? Too strange for me to understand.
i have the same question. it makes no sense.
but not much what i ´ve seen in the magical Kuwaiti desert does. so how knows? maybe "milk Tea" can give some insight, like someone mentioned before. i presume her "legalizing" was the official recognition of a marriage performed by some old man in an old tent. now they are legally Misyr married. whatever that means.

I don't know. I can think of a lot of ways and rationales for something like this. Not ones I agree with, but ones that could be logical in some way. But that would be speculation. Murad described it, the internet confirmed it's a thing, and it matches with the very few pieces of evidence we have that aren't just what Gunt felt like telling us -- photos and such.

The fact that such a custom or mechanism exists doesn't prove she did it, of course. But it's not a normal marriage. The wife explicitly waives a lot of her rights. There could be a way to legally recognize defacto marriages. We do it with common-law relationships. It's not exactly the same thing, but if there's a custom where you can marry without all the bells and whistles, it makes LESS sense that it could never be legally-recognized than if there was some way to make it official.

Because you can not be together with a woman unless you are married. If you want to sleep with someone, you need to pay the court.

Does it make sense? No. Does it make sense to make it illegal to eat Cheetos? No. It's another culture, don't overthink it.

If she had anything that said they were legally married she would have shown it by now. She just loves to prove people wrong. Also, not once has she mentioned, since being back in Canada, doing anything to legalize it there, or going and getting a new license, new passport, etc. to reflect her new name.

And boo hoo, poor little cutie and her mental health. I don't think she will ever go back to that villa. Bbj, the trash, the furniture, it's all his problem now. I hate pee, almost as much as I hate her, but he has been a good friend to her and she doesn't give one shit about him.

She made that perfectly clear in her second live today. Beezers were telling her Peetz was live and looked the worst they’d ever seen him (he actually did look particularly unwell)…and extremely depressed. He was even struggling to find BBJ wet food which Gunt (when confronted) said was rubbish. Once again she just turned it around as in how depressed she was being away from her loving husband on Valentine’s Day, and of course she misses Sam who is already totally snuggling up to his new fur mommy.

Off topic but honestly with how fat chantal is getting Salah should be worried if his babe will even live long enough to sponsor him if she somehow miraculously had the money.

Apparently the us has a way where widows can apply for citizenship even though their partner has passed but it doesnt seem like canada has the same rules as a sponsor is required to pay. For a second I thought that was his end game. Feed her to death while also proving bona-fide marriage.

A lot of countries allow tourists to marry. Destination weddings are a massive industry.
Yeah, but the rhetoric itt and on reaction channels for weeks has been “Chantal cannot possibly be legally married because she would need to have a valid Kuwaiti ID.” Has this randomly just gone out of the window???
