Nixon is a very much controversial figure and we know next to nothing about what actually happened. For all the screaming about Watergate what actually happened there was quite mild compared to the shit the CIA and FBI were routinely doing to other Americans. Not only that we still do not have some of the tapes that Nixon recorded, the famous "missing segments" that they claim had "national security" stuff but is still somehow lost.

There was a absolute insane level of historical revisionism on Nixon after he was gone. Think of how lefties and progressives love to absolutely shit on Reagan and Thatcher, except with Nixon not only was the actual truth of the people who supported him hidden these types tend to not even have some coherent explanation. A lot of the stuff they hate Nixon for are the results of the entire federal government. They act like Nixon invented the War on Drugs alone for example. Even when you actually read people who hated Nixon at the time you will find that their issues with him were a lot more nuanced and could actually be articulated.

People don't remember how bad things got in 68 and 72. They do not remember how the 68 Democratic Convention had a literal riot happen on the city it was hosted that caused what was pretty much a small scale urban battle. They do not remember how Nixon destroyed McGovern's progressive push of "Acid, Abortion and Amnisty" by getting one of the most loopsided wins in US Election history. They do not remember that in the 1970's there were over 1500 terror attacks in US soil involving random bombings by lunatics who sent them by mail or planted them in places. No one remembers why NYC was the "big rotten apple" and the entire fucking hell that happened.

Instead we have this almost vacum on US History for most people where they sorta ignore the 70's despite how absurdly important it was for the USA and world. The end of the Gold Standard, detente, end of Vietnam, stagflation, far-left terrorism from black nationalists and radical commies and maoist militas and student anarchist, and more.

It is particularly worrying because we are seeing a almost repeat of that decade going on nowadays. Except unlike Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford the current establishment isn't having to deal with a bad issues forced on them, they actively caused the problems and insist their solutions are what is needed when all evidence disagrees. The American Malaise is back in full force.

Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

I've already seen what happens.

Nothing like a Stackpole to wake you up in the morning.
tl;dr - TPTB have half-assed multiple attempts to do... SOMETHING. And they have all catastrophically failed. Creating this cascade effect of faggotry.
Not even half-assed attempts. They didn't sit down, look at the problem, and refuse to really follow through on their fixes. They looked at the problem, made up absurd fiction about how if they do something completely contraindicated, it would fix the problem as suddenly everyone in the world would behave exactly according to their models, and then were baffled when humans reacted like normal humans.

Its like watching someone try to fill their gas tank with cheesy puff balls because "the car probably gets hungry too".

Nixon was a real nigga who got fucked over by the establishment and cowardly cuckservatives led by Nelson Rockefeller. The shit Nixon supposedly pulled is tame and child’s play compared to what the swamp is up to these days. It was a great way for the left to exact revenge after suffering a humiliating defeat in 1972 and “conservatives” were happy to do their part, showing how useless Republicans were and how strong the uniparty was even then.

This is a very good summary of the current state of the ruling class in the western neoliberal democracies at the moment. They have become absolutely convinced that they already know everything, that they read the books and heard the teachers in University speak and they have the entire universe figured out already. It's hilarious to see how these so called "diverse and progressive and tolerant" people are so homogeneous and incapable of understanding anyone who disagrees with them.

They already decided on the outcomes they want and think they can just figure out the steps. They refuse to actually stop and take stock of what the fuck is going on, they cannot even admit failure in private and move to improve. It has been the case since pretty much 2016. Trump and Brexit broke these people. Jamie pull the Simpsons Seymour "am I out of touch" meme here. Except instead of "the children" they think it is the entire population and electorate of the world.

My theory about the Watergate break-in was that Nixon took a massive cash pay-off from Howard Hughes, his staff knew about it (but not the details), and arranged the break-in to both check to see if the DNC had caught wind of it and to see if their suspicions that the DNC had also gotten a bribe were true. There's quite a bit of evidence in support of this theory. I don't believe Nixon knew about it in advance, though.

If Nixon had hired a foreign spy to fabricate a report about McGovern being a Soviet collaborator, used the FBI to launder it through the media, and had his FBI stooges lie about it in court to get a warrant to spy on the McGovern campaign and pass that info back to him, he would have been executed for treason.

tell the federal agents I say Hi!
You know, one of the fed's greatest victories was to convince ordinary citizens that they are somehow involved in any and all dissident thought expressed in this country. There are easily a hundred million people in this country who want them dead. A few thousand federal agents could never corral the thought of so many people on their own. Luckily, they have convinced us to police ourselves with the minimal amount of high-profile federal assets.

Hint: if there are no news cameras around and it isn't being streamed to cozy.tv, you likely aren't dealing with a federal agent.

Nixon is demonized for doing shit that Obama and Bush did twice a month for 8 years

Unfortunately as a New Yorker who lived through the 70s, I remember all too well how bad things were. I try to tell people that amazingly as bad as things are now, they're still not as bad as they were in the 70s but it's hard to believe for them.

I remember going with my father to sit on gas lines for hours to get gas for the car and how you were only allowed to get gas on certain days.

Mortgage interest rates are around 9% now, which is horrible considering during Trump's presidency it was about 1.5-2%. But when we moved from an apartment in Queens to my parents buying their first house in Queens in the 70s, the interest rate on their mortgage was 17%!

NYC was a crime ridden hellhole. Abandoned skeletons of cars and burned out buildings. And it stayed that way for a long time - long into the good ol' 80s. It took NYC over a decade and the harsh crackdown of Giuliani to get it under control. And of course DeBlasio saw fit to drag us back there. And now Adams is really finishing the job - but it's still not as bad as it was in the 70s and 80s.

Crime was so bad back then and I got mugged so much in the 80s that I STILL don't carry a wallet out of habit because it was easier to just hand over the money to the person mugging you rather than constantly lose your credit cards, driver's license, and personal photos. Hell, I can't not laugh at how gentrified the village is, looking at nothing but a Jersey college crowd hang out on St. Marks and 2nd, with cars parked everywhere. Back then you didn't park your car anywhere you couldn't see it and get to it within 30 seconds! I had a buddy who had a heroin habit and we used to go to Stanton and Rivington for him to get his heroin. It was like out of a movie - the dude was on the upper floors and he'd lower a basket on a rope. My buddy would put the money in the basket and the guy would take the basket up and then lower it with the heroin in it! Now Stanton and Rivington are high end apartments and packed with kids walking around. One time I was stupid enough to wander a few feet away from my buddy while he was waiting for his heroin and I got mugged! My buddy didn't even notice because it happened so fast - just some dude with a knife in my back, I handed over my money, and he took off.

NYC isn't that bad yet but we're heading back there. Bad enough that I took my family and my mother and moved to Long Island and bought a house there instead. Thank God I did it at the end of the Trump presidency and managed to lock in my mortgage rate at 2% otherwise I'd be fucked right now. The problem is that I don't see another Giuliani on the horizon...someone who has what it takes to crack down hard and get control of the city, which is why I decided to leave the city I swore I'd be buried in. Because when NYC finally gets done plummeting and hits rock bottom, like the 80s, it's gonna take over a decade to come back, and that's IF they get someone who can get handle the crime. The last chance for that was Curtis Sliwa, who I voted for. I figured the best chance for the city would be the leader of the Guardian Angels. But New Yorkers, like Californians, are cucks and voted for the worst candidate possible. The day after election day, I put my house up for sale and it looks like I made the right choice.

So no, things aren't as bad as the 70s yet, and if you didn't live through them, you can't imagine how bad things were. But it's heading in that direction. And I'm not optimistic.

Project Veritas gave an update on the James O'Keefe situation.

(Sorry, don't mean to multiple post but I just tried to edit my post to add multi-quote and it's not working.)

Looks like the donors pulling back, people cancelling their subscriptions, and the general outcry scared the shit out of the board.

We need more boomers like you to tell people what the end result of letting this shit happen is. That testimony about NYC at the peak of rot is exactly what is coming back and they just don't believe it. Or worse, don't even realize it could happen. There is a reason "Escape from New York" is such a banger movie and why it chose to have the setting as NYC. In 1980 the city had barely begun to recover. Also the start of the movie with some black commie maoist crashing the Air Force 1 was a straight up Great Value Weather Underground reference.

And good on Project Veritas from getting scared. They should be. Fucking RINOs have been getting too confortable they need to realize they are not in control anymore.
