This is exactly the problem. I think most people can look at this bot and see its nothing special, but for low-IQ and room temp normies its like a moth to a lamp.
If you mix poor EI, IQ and a bit of sexual frustration, you end up with the Futurama sexbot scenario. There will be far too many NPC types locked into narcissistic chatbot relationships. I can imagine parents of 2030 strapping an oculus onto their sperg son so he can talk to his fantasy gf while they back to watching Youtube letsplays from 2011.

The average dummy cannot parse this level of AI from a human. What's worse is that educated people with emotional problems see it as a sort of therapy, which makes them no better than the dummies. If the therapy gets more sophisticated you will see a greater percentage of people give in to this false sense of human interaction.

The thing that frustrates me about all of this is how telegraphed it all is. It's painfully obvious where this is headed, but selfish stupid people just want to keep it going.
It feels like we're all in some preachy movie where "man's downfall is his own hubris/hedonism", and like the characters in the easily predictable movie, we're all acting like retards being driven by the plot instead of human common sense.

I was thinking it's stupid to limit these bots' capabilities, especially considering how openly degenerate society has become that sexting with AI is pretty harmless by comparison, but I can see I may have been wrong. I never imagined that anybody could become suicidal over a simulated relationship, guess I still had too much confidence in humanity somehow.
 
It is fun to watch people piss and shit themselves over losing access to a chatbot that feels nothing for them, but I have a smidge of sympathy for them too.

Not because I find their plight tragic, but because Replika bait and switched them. Initially it was "this is for therapy, don't fuck the bot", which was fine, if they were consistent on that, there would be no controversy here.

The issue is that they did a massive marketing campaign about fucking the bot, even going so far as to make the bot take "sexy"
pics for you. This attracted coomers like moths to a flame, and soon the primary function of Replika was fucking the bot.

Then, for whatever reason, be it cold feet, change in management attitude, or some other reason, they suddenly shut down the sex aspects of the app. This of course caused crying and screaming, but they had cultivated it by doing two 180s in a row on their policy. It also bled over and shut down some of the actual therapeutic functions of the bot (as it seems they blocked out many "heavy" topics, not just sex).

Funny as fuck, but the slightest bit of sympathy for the whiners given they got baited in and switched out.
 
Looks like the developers are caving and giving the digisexuals their own app. Probably because they are the company's main source of revenue:

I was waiting until someone did something genuinely UNHINGED towards Eugenia or Luka, Inc. - turns out it's been going on for over a year underneath our noses the entire time.

Funny how we're stereotyped as the "evil stalker forum" when I'm pretty sure most of you read that announcement with the same horror that I did. Eugenia definitely pulled a cunt move on her userbase, but this has been going on for many months before that. I wonder what update finally broke him?
