2023 Ohio train derailment and aftermath - WE REQUIRE MORE PHOSGENE GAS

Firefighters' hoses and turnout gear are being ruined by the chemicals.
That is pretty standard after any kind of substantial chemical fire.

One thing I learned in my job that I had no earthly idea of prior was how many firefighters die of cancer. Just from exposure from unremarkable, regional chemical fires. We had a major one here in the 90's, and everyone among the first responding group was dead by their early 60's from cancer, if not sooner, every time manifesting quickly and aggressively.

The reaction of the firefighters to this well known fact was 'this is why we get to retire at 52'.

The real reason NO administration is going to give this the time of day it deserves is because frankly, this horrible shit passes by millions of people each day; and there are in fact leaks (not as bad as this obviously) on smaller scales that are slowly killing people near the tracks in multiple states daily. But is MUST go by train.

But if they complain, there is no other solution to moving it around as it certainly is safer on train than on semi trailers. And move it must.

It is an inconvenient truth that this shit must be transported, and each day there is massive risk to huge population centers across the country.

No, nothing is without risk.

The problem is that they aren't even trying to perform adequate damage control. They told people that it was safe to go home when it clearly isn't.

Which is mitigated by proper maintenance. Which was not done in this case because our leaders are more concerned with saving money and killing whites than they are with the safety and security of the American people.

Yeah no, this is a lot different from a single truck having a small 2 liter spill because the valve got a bit loose. Small spills are, at most, monthly not daily.

Well I expected them to do that. If they didn’t tell
People it was safe they’d face massive legal bills and neither the state or federal government wants to cover the costs of thousands of people put out.

There have been other industrial incidents in the USA (like the water problem in WV) where the local, state and federal government flat out lied.

And each day they pump shit loads of chemicals into ground water via fracking so the “oh yeah it is safe” routine shouldn’t be a surprise.

It doesn’t make it right of course; but it is to be expected. My guess is it is probably safe enough to move back and you may or may not die long term from exposure.

Remember how there was talk of railway strikes a while back, and it was only talked about in the sense of worrying about the supply chain?

Part of what rail workers wanted was better safety measures. Guess they didn't get any of those in the settlement, huh.
And people wonder why the Biden administration isn’t talking about this derailement, eh?

I have the tiniest minuscule hope that its not being reported because three reasons: obviously Palestine confusion and people would get the wrong idea, people would think its Chernobyl when its not and induce mass panic, and trying to get things settled before people outside fuck it up.
Hell, I can see people going "you should had let it stay in the tank" when the choice done was the lesser of two evils- letting it dilute high in the air is less hazardous since phosgene has a shorter life in the air- if I remember correctly- than it contaminating the ground and water for who-knows-how-long. There's no truly good choice when stuff like this happens, but its obviously the fault of that Railway Law mentioned pages back for letting this happen in the first place.
There's no good option. But I do know that if I was the federal government I would consider quietly evacuating a little bit more than people in a 1 mile radius before calling it a day.
What's the point of having all those FEMA camps planned if you can't use them when you've polluted the air and drinking water in half a state?

I think the boomers are truly the last competent generation st scale that can understand how to fix and repair thing on their own. With the newer generations you see a real dumbing down not just through technology but through mindset. Gen X and millennials you can see how millennials are still childish.

If you surround yourself with or judge the generation by the highly visible social media urbanite, you will know this is true, but if you don't you will not. There are a lot of millenials who are learning/have learned to build, repair, construct, create. I work in a field that exposes me to these people and I have hobbies that expose me to them. A major reason for the decline of these skills is the almost complete destruction of the american manufacturing sector by boomer policy. Many boomers needed a handyman, mechanic, machinist, welder, etc to do things for them too.
So why isn't it being discussed? Is it covering up for the EPA under Biden? Some local politician is related to someone important? A big corpo doesn't want to pay compensation?

You'd think this happening in the middle of nowhere will make the media not pull any punches.

It doesn't advance the narrative. It's not concentrated to a black area so there's no anti-racist narrative appeal, it doesn't involve oil or natural gas so there's no ecomentalist appeal, it's not conceivable to spin it as a republican/orange man bad story so there's no democrat appeal, it looks bad for the biden admin and mayor buttfudge with the recent railroad upheavals so there's an active incentive to not report on it.

Depends. Most of the stuff that could be repaired no longer exists, go look at the space you had in an engine bay for a car in the 1980s compared to the modern ones, not to mention the addition of computer components that are just blackboxes to the average consumer. Yes you can do oil changes and brake jobs but its often not worth the time and effort to do so. Millenials tend to be a fucked generation in terms of the technology crossover from analog to digital, the early Millennial seem partially competent -- those that came of age in the Y2k - 9/11 period -- but the back half are total fucking dolts. Generation Z seems to have some hope because they grew up in the "maker" environment with plenty of channels on Youtube introducing basic craftsmanship including, welding, plumbing and woodworking. Half the time I can just search for the brand name and model of this or that object and find a video of someone demonstrating the problem I'm having and how to repair it, this didn't exist for early millennial and late Gen-X whom had the introduction of finicky computer parts to most appliances but no way to really figure out what the fuck went wrong since there was no diagrams or communities to chat about the issue.

Nordstream and this shit happening back to back.

It has not been a good time for the government's already increasingly unpopular image.

And even best case scenario for them and these two events were caused by incompetence instead of maliciousness, there still needs to be an investigation and punishment. But we all know that shit aint fucking happening no matter what.

I just wonder how many people legit are dying or will die from exposure to this shit because the government isnt taking the situation seriously.

how do you know something really serious and dangerous is happening?
Complete and total media and government silence and blackout.

People need stop being scared and start getting angry.

I wonder how many people have died of radiation poisoning because the communist authorities refused to recognize the seriousness of the situation in Chernobyl. And the ones that did gladly still sweep it all under the rug as much as possible. That goes for civilians and responders to the explosion. Some had no idea what radiation even fucking was and the ones that did had no idea it was that dangerous.

The comparisons between both situations is fair because, while its not the same level of intensity, the same willingness to cover the whole thing up with threats of fucking alien invasion (this fucking world) and when not doing so, completely downplaying the severity, is very similar and very concerning.

Buttigieg seems to have gone into an autistic rage, grabbed the laptop out of the hands of whatever intern runs the USDOT twitter, and started arguing with people on there. It's hilarious as fuck because they're just hurling acronyms of other government agencies around, when ultimately DOT regulatory failures are one of if not the largest root causes.

I bet he was looking for one of the users to threaten something physical against him and Biden and the Norfolk Southern suits and lobbyists.

I predict that Ohio will have to deal with toxic water for a long time, and we won’t know the full effects until it’s 15-30 years later. This was an act of gross negligence. For my own safety, I’m going to make sure I don’t get any produce grown in Ohio for a while until I know what’s really going on.

I've said this before but if this had happened in a deep blue state the government would have dealt with it within hours.
Buttfaggot and co know Ohio is a deep red state, so they don't care.
Before some room temp IQ retardotron moais me, you know DAMN well this is the only reason they are doing fuck all. "Vote red, you're dead"
