Then the question becomes if the answer is to just let the ship sink by any means necessary and build a new one.
I like the ship we have. What I don't like is all the faggots getting let aboard that keep drilling holes in the hull. In the event that the ship does sink, I'd like the new one to be a copy of the old one but with more secure outer doors and heavier gatekeeping. That will never happen though because the faggots that drilled holes in the original boat are large enough in number to have a say of how the new boat is built, and they have zero understanding of buoyancy. You can either kick the faggots off the ship you already have and try to repair the damage, or you have to ensure that the faggots go down with the ship so none of them are around when the new one is built. In this analogy, I prefer the former.

The collapse of the USA is extremely unlikely, even as retarded as we are. The important thing to remember as the USA goes to shit is that the rest of the world is along for the ride. The end result is that the USA will continue to be the least worst option, perpetually. As to the idea of rebuilding from the ground up, it would be a hell process that wouldn't result in anything better than current until long after you're dead and gone.

The thing is, collapses are very rarely the "oh shit the cold war went hot time to take out those little shits at the marxist bookstore that burned down our church last month" type, as much fun as that would be. Instead, it'll be a slow (someone would say managed) decline as our culture and institutions are twisted, perverted, and ruined, letting people, institutions, and other countries syphon as much wealth influence and power from us as they can while keeping the bread and circuses going so we don't react. This will take place over decades, maybe even a century.

(e: They're very obviously using feral black people, conditioned white guilt, and the subversion of the rule of law to help this along, btw.)

I mean there's always a chance we'll see the right wing version of the "woke" movement, a bunch of people realizing our entire culture is being retooled as a life support system for various flavors of wogs and finally pushing back against that, bad names be damned. But it's more likely we'll finally stop them from taking a mile while claiming they're just taking back the inch we took from them, they'll wait, huff that we dared stop the grand march of progress for even a few seconds, then start up twice as hard to punish us for telling them no, even once.

Some would say that's exactly what happened in 2020 to current, maybe even 2016.

Why would most people want to vote. Have you seen how little of a shit most people give? Voter Participation is already super low across the western world, and thats with the high high bar of "fill out a mail ballot". Turn around and say "Spend four years of your life doing something difficult and dangerous, dropping your career or educational goals until after your done", and then in the other hand let them do none of that and just not worry about government.

I'd be surprised if the rate was above 5% - And we already see huge portions of potential working populance not making shit for 4-6 years, we call it college. The system can soak people stepping out for other reasons.
Citizenship is doled out to people who've demonstrated an interest in their society. Apoliticals don't get to vote and don't care, or in the book, think voting is kinda dumb anyways. They're still allowed to run businesses and have constitutional freedoms.

The RNC is hoping pseudopopulists like DeSantis will deprive the Trump campaign of just enough oxygen to take him out of the running. What they really want are token minorities who are committed neoconservatives; candidates like Nimrata Haley and Marco Rubio fit in here. DeSantis is a white guy and you can’t own and trigger da libs with another white guy. The RNC will unironically think that an all minority cabinet is the true way to own Democrats, ignoring the complete and utter shitshow when Liz Truss attempted that last year in Bongistan. Of course Republicans are going to be stupid enough to try it again and act shocked when they experience the same results.
We'll beat the DNC by carrying forward their agenda! Brilliant!

The feature of the ship we have is that faggots will always be let aboard and will immediately start drilling holes. It’s like saying “I want communism but nobody is a workshy faggot” and “I want libertarianism but corporate leaders get to only do the things I want to do and are not allowed to do the things I don’t want them to do like DEI and ESG.” People can pine for the 1950s but it led directly to the 1960s. People can pine for the 2000s but it will lead to the 2010s. We can also discuss what color of unicorn we want to ride when going into work.

The RNC’s policy has been “we will beat the left at their own game” for a while now. Mitt Romney’s campaign in 2012 was all about how he knew the rules of the left better than Obama. 2016 was all about a guy who ditched playing by the left’s rules and Republicans spent the next several years collaborating with the Democrats to fight him and anyone who wanted to color outside the lines like him.

2024 is going to be an eagerness to get back to losing with dignity and principles the way John McCain and Mitt Romney did. At least then they can continue to get invited to the right parties in Washington. They will lose of course but these puds consider victory to be the moment when they get highly paid sinecures and lobbying gigs that pay out at millions a year; winning elections are a burden because then it means they are held accountable by people they utterly despise.

Maybe there wouldn't be a collapse, rather, the US loses it's position as the dominant superpower or is no longer the center of politics of the world ie other nations especially major first world ones get fed up and tell the US to piss off or Israel gets new protection. Right wingers get pissed seeing that they can't flex their political muscles no more while left wingers get pissed no one cares about their agenda no more, they'll just screech at other nations "You're POC/LGBT rights aren't real POC/LGBTQ rights!" or some shit. The US goes quasi 1920s-30s levels of isolation only lamer.

As I understand it, the technology to safely store hydrogen in any useful quantity isn't there yet and hydrolyzing water needs more electricity that the vehicle could generate.
It would be trivial to just use electricity to make a shitload of hydrogen if we had a bunch of high tech nuclear power plants around pumping out cheap power... Just saying....

The real obstacle is really the storage. No one wants cars blowing up when they crash. Bad enough with gas, took decades for the tech to get good at ensuring it didn't happen, and gasoline is quite well behaved all things considered (needing a lot of air-fuel mixture to actually ignite). Electric cars are actually still dangerous when it comes to fires, lithium can burn like a motherfucker and water only makes it burn hotter. It`s thermodynamics all that power that makes you car move has to come from somewhere. With hydrogen it really is a danger.

Hydrogen storage is currently only good if you want a solid plan B when power fails on a local level. It can keep things running in the block that lost power until you fix the problem. As far as cars are concerned, we can’t innovate anymore, because the moment you get something going, politicians will start trying to get their cut unless you want to be regulated out of existence. Cars will be an issue until we can remove the old regulations and just set numerical standards that are easy to measure instead of forcing material requirements onto out manufacturers.

Just when you think you can't be surprised how stupid and ineffectual this regime is.
The media are not that effective at telling you what to think, they're very good at telling you what to think about. Success / Failure. They all necessary parts of keeping your engagement as if it were one note you would lose focus. They don't care if you think the US administration was mildly incompetent with a balloon. They only care that you're not thinking about billions sent to Ukraine, chemical accidents in Ohio and that you've moved on from thinking about electoral fraud.

The media are the voice of the establishment. You don't win by listening.

Only problem with that plan is we would just do the same thing in the future. We might buy us some time but I firmly belive we won't learn from past mistakes. Fuck look at every "lesson" we should have learned something from that has already happened or has gotten worse. I wished I had the answer and don't want to come off as black-pilled, but seriously have no idea what will happen to allow us to break the cycle.
We build a new party where the rule is you can't run for office if you can't bench 200 lbs. This weeds out women, chinless dickweasels, and guys who need to retire. Yes, shitheads like Eyepatch McCain will still get through the process, but they'll be marginal. You don't have to keep all the losers out, just most of them.

The media are not that effective at telling you what to think, they're very good at telling you what to think about. Success / Failure.

They're especially good at telling you what not to think about, like Epstein and monkeypox.

Skynet were the good guys this whole time?!
We really need a better term for these than AI because they're really not. I like Mass Effect's "Simulated Intelligence" for this because we really, really don't have an actual A.I. generalized or otherwise yet. Some reclusive NYT journo being a literal retard should still be news though for different reasons.

How much you wanna bet the report comes back that he's in "TIP-TOP MENTAL SHAPE, NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS!"?
That's a no-brainer. It's like how everyone in office was getting COVID, came out all better, and then re-got it again for like the 5th or 6th time.

I'm pretty sure the White House at this point is nothing more than a Bio-Hazard dome you need a protective suit to make sure you don't catch whatever the fuck is floating around it.

The whole point of calling it AI, machine learning, neural networks, training sets, etc, is to get technologically illiterate VCs to pour money into your pockets.

If I told you, "So are you familiar with regression fitting data? It's kind of like that, except instead of fitting a linear equation to points in XY space, I'm fitting a nonlinear equation to points in a many-dimensional space, and using sophisticated error metrics to ensure extrapolations produce things that make sense on a qualitative level," nobody's giving me money. So I tell you I'm training an AI to think like a human.

I know the auto insurance market intimately. Insurance for EVs is already insane, mainly due to the physical damage. If the battery gets damaged it needs to be fixed so it doesn't explode later on. This is expensive is you need a specialized tech and an engineer to fix it. Can't be done DIY in your garage. If it catches on fire its a total loss with nothing to salvage, plus it requires a hazmat team to clean up. Liability isn't too bad but if a firefighter gets injured or more people start burning alive in EV wrecks, you can expect that to ratchet up even higher too.
