  • Fitness model Nashali Alma was the victim of an attempted rape in her gym
  • The Insta star let her attacker into the building in January
  • Alma credits bodybuilding with giving her the strength to defeat her rapist

The Instagram fitness model who went viral after the clip of her fighting off her would-be rapist in the gym went viral credits her burgeoning bodybuilding career with helping to save her life.

Nashali Alma, 24, told DailyMail.com exclusively on Thursday: 'I was confident I had strength and mentality to fight back. I was much stronger than I think with all my fitness work and bodybuilding, I am proud to be a bodybuilder!'

Alma, whose Instagram page is littered with photos showing showing off her incredible physique, said that she wants to see the suspect in prison 'serving a long term because that is what he deserves.'

The fitness star disclosed that she does not take any self-defense classes but the ordeal has prompted her to look into attending one.

Describing her strategy in the beatdown she said: 'I just kept punching him with my phone, my hands, upper cut him on the ground, pulled his beard hair out, I just kept punching and moving so he wouldn’t get a chance.'

Alma earlier said in a video released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office that when her attacker approached her, she pushed him away. She told him to leave her alone, but he began to chase her around the gym - before he grabbed her and she rained punches on him.

The incident occurred in the Inwood Park Apartment Complex in Tampa on January 22. Following the attack, Alma advised women caught in similar situations to 'Never give up.'

Her attacker later told police he was trying to rape her.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said: 'I was disgusted by the suspect’s actions, how he preyed on this young woman. I'm grateful that she came forward, I know her story is going to be an inspiration to other women.'

Alma said that she let the suspect, Xavier Thomas-Jones, 25, into the building because she recognized him as someone who she had seen inside the complex once before.

At one point in the video, Thomas-Jones is seen pinning Alma to the ground but she continues to throttle him while also trying to call the police.

'When it was happening, I actually had no fear,' Alma said in describing the attack. 'I am a bodybuilder, and I’m actually pretty strong, so in my mind, he was kinda equal to me.'

She continued: 'The more fight you put, the more they want to give up... If I keep going, I keep pushing, he's going to stop. He's going to let go and he finally did.'

The suspect in the attack is 25-year-old Xavier Thomas-Jones, Alma said she was able to gain an advantage over him by twisting his beard

'My advice would be to never give up,' Alma said in the video. 'My parents always told me in life, to never give up on anything and that's one thing I always kept in my mind when I was fighting him.'

The model was able to drive her attacker away and he fled building before officers arrived. He was arrested around 24 hours later and charged with sexual battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping.

Fox Tampa Bay reports that Thomas-Jones left in the apartment building. The station, citing court documents, said that he admitted to officers that he was intending to sexually assault her.

The station reports that when he was arrested, the suspect had leering at a woman on a balcony and had gone to her apartment in an attempt to gain entry for 'sexual' reasons.

He asked her if she wanted to 'hang out,' she replied: 'Who the f*** are you?' Thomas-Jones entered her home which alerted the woman's fiance who chased him off and recorded him on his phone.

It was through that information that deputies were able to track down and arrest Thomas-Jones.

That woman told WFTS: 'You have no idea who I am. You have clearly been watching me from outside my apartment and you just decided to come out and knock on my door. It was weird. It was really weird, really scary.'

In an interview with WTSP, Alma went into more detail on the attempted attack.

'He grabbed me and I'm like, "Heck no, it's game time. I took my phone and I smashed his head and punched him. I knew I had the strength, I knew I could fight and I wasn't going to let this man win at all.'

In that interview, Alma encouraged other women to come forward to report attempted sexual assaults. 'It’s better to reach out to law enforcement sooner than later. The sooner they have the information, the sooner they can catch that person.'

In another interview with WFTS, Alma said that she was able to gain an advantage on Thomas-Jones by repeatedly twisting his beard.

On her Instagram page, Alma refers to herself as a fitness trainer and online coach. Her profile is mainly images showing her working out at the gym.

Alma is a graduate of the University of South Florida and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rasmussen University.

Her boyfriend assured friends and family in a post on his Instagram page that Alma was not hurt in the incident and that she is 'stronger than ever' because of it.

A 2021 study from fitness resource website Bar Bend found that 87 percent of women reported feeling unsafe at the gym. While a shocking 93 percent said that their workouts had been interrupted during workouts.

Another 75 percent of women said that they were catcalled at the gym and 63 percent said that they changed their routines due to persistent harassment.

Jesus, that video was actually hard to watch, even though I knew she escaped after reading the article. She's very lucky.

That was absolutely horrendous to watch and I felt sick when he pinned her down and was on top of her. I could almost smell his BO through my screen. If I was ever to be assaulted like this I swear the god this person better kills me and make sure I'm dead. If I was her I wish I'd get a chance to handcuff this nigger to a rack and George Floyd him with a kettlebell.

Nog fucked around and found out. Despite that this adverticle reads like crap, it's reassuring that the woman fended off the attack with success. Though, has anybody pointed out that the spray tan doesn't look good on her? smh

Typical male fucking comment, girl almost gets raped but manages to fight off the attacker

You know it's interesting, I have attractive women smile, wave, and sometimes we get to know each other at the gym with some frequency. The girls who report "feeling unsafe" tend not to go to the gym that often anyway.

That IS very interesting indeed, I'm also sure it happens.

That's not my point.

My point is that nobody believes that gyms are rape zones. If they did, women A) wouldn't go to them, and B) wouldn't go to them dressed as they do.

Theoretically, a rape could happen in a gym, in about the same way a rape could happen in the busiest part of a supermarket. That doesn't mean that the surveillance cameras were ordered and installed with management thinking "juuust in case we need to track a rapist".

That's not exactly true. I understand that during the day in a packed gym you have as many chances of getting raped as on a rush hour bus. But you have a lot of 24/7 gyms that aren't staffed at night. I used to work out late and let me tell you, when you're a woman and you find yourself in a gym alone, at night, it's dark outside and not much traffic it feels creepy. Or there is one or two other men working out close to you you start feeling really uncomfortable, at least J was. I think it's just instinctual. Otherwise i find these statistics about women being harrassed at gyms so much exaggerated.

Is this mostly in Franchised Gyms? I know that the Muay Thai practice I go to would have many people get confrontational if any harassment was to happen to one of the members.
regular commercial fitness gyms are basically anonymous public spaces. nobody knows each other, membership is open to anyone from the general public, the place is openly accessible most of the day (some are open 24/7). you see in the video that the girl is completely alone, so when the rapist shows up there literally is nobody around who could intervene.
its a very different environment than a dedicated fighting gym, those operate more like sports clubs where people kinda know each other and talk to each other and participate in structured training sessions and events together.

half the article is just t+a pics taken from her instagram so of course people will talk about that
high quality journalism, as expected from a britbong tabloid

This is why I say that every woman needs a gun, and needs to be well trained with pistols. Unless you're Rhonda Rousey and IMO even if you are you need a gun. The average American woman that lives in a non-cucked area that allows for easy conceal carry doesn't really have any excuse.

She got very lucky that the guy wasn't stronger, had no stamina, and had the will of your average retard. Had any one of those things changed it could have ended very badly. A well trained woman can beat an untrained, out of shape man even if he's bigger than her. The keyword is CAN and an untrained man can beat a well trained woman just by sheer difference in strength if it becomes too large, or even worse the guy goes full rage mode against her.

A girl that is 4'11 can get really strong for their size, but no amount of lifting would stop a man if he got into the same position as he did in the video above against a woman even smaller. You know whats the best equalizer? Bullets. A gun doesn't care if its a 10 year old, a 4'11 woman, or some jacked 6'5 200 pounds of muscle marine firing it. As long as the aim is true its going to incapacitate the would be rapist subhuman.

The only problem with that in this situation is the gym may not allow guns on the premises, which honestly shouldn't even matter since a woman alone in such a situation should just bring it anyway. I would rather get in trouble for that, than be raped.
you cant really carry a fucking firearm on your person while working out, at some point this paranoia becomes unreasonable.
really there isn't a whole lot she could/should have done different here. her only 'mistake' (if you can even call it that) was being alone and looking vulnerable in a semi public place at night, and unlucky enough to actually have a random predator show up at the precise time she happened to be there.

I have been in like a 100 gyms and never seen bitches cat called.

But, one time, I remember I was at a 24 hour out west and when doing squats I saw this women legit wearing a string bikini dancing in the middle of the isle. Walking up, I was like “lol nice gym wear” and she awkwardly looked at me, said thanks, and proceeded to flex all over the place while this skinny white dude was filming her.

To this day, I lay awake at night frustrated I didn’t make fun of her or asked for her number to get one date then make fun of her after. Such is life.

Please ignore the nigger rapist and focus on what's really important; attention seekers getting mad they are receiving attention from normie gym-goers instead of jacked hunks. Please!
It's an advanced narrative spinning technique: whenever something that Never Happens happens, immediately prime the audience to believe that they just read something else. This wasn't a story about the exponentially skyrocketing black-on-everyone crime, this is about Men Bad!

True scary part of this video: even though she's jacked for a woman, and the guy didn't look anything more than average, he still managed to overpower her and pin her down for a minute.

But there's just NO differences between men and women, right guys?

Glad she managed to get away. Rape is one of the most disgusting, heinous things you can do to another person. Sick nigger fuck should get lynched.

She was probably there with another man to film something for her social media/website and chose the time when she thought the gym wouldn't be occupied. And you say you've never seen a woman catcalled but then you pretty much do it yourself. And you wanted her number so you could make fun of her? You retards never cease to amaze me.

Well, call me a simple man, but if my bald ass walked into a gym wearing a g-string banana sling, then I wouldn’t mind niggas making fun of me in the most cruel manner ever. Or, bitches wanting to ride me asap. Or both, whatever.

Then again, I suppose some sort of etiquette in public fashion is bit too much to ask these days.

it took a female body builder almost all her strength to ward off a normal guy.
i didnt realize just how weak women are.
How to destroy a woman:
1. Ask to arm wrestle.
2. Ask her to do amateurs stand up.
3. Challenge her to a push up contest.
4. Hold a contest on who can pee their name in the snow the best.

That’s why women should just always pack a concealed gun and steal jokes when possible. Due to biological nature, one must make do with one’s own limitations.

Good for her fighting off some mentally handicapped twiggy nigger, but she should still carry a Glock because her physique won’t save her all the time.

Neither do whores and you get a lot less less trouble for that than you will murder. Also, you won't be known as a necrophiliac.

He will get plenty of sex in prison. If he wants it or not. LOL

You would think people who don't like trannies also wouldn't like women that look like men.

I didn't cry you stupid little faggot I laughed. I find the whole stickers thing to be funny. It's ridiculous reddit tier faggotry. Imagine getting so butthurt about some randos opinion on the internet you have to put negative "stickers" on peoples posts which are just down votes disguised as something else. Like I said, it's reddit tier faggotry. I don't give a shit because it doesn't affect my ability to post.

Spam as many stickers as you want. Whatever soothes your raging case of butthurt. LOL

If the woman is as manish as she is then yes. It's pretty fucking gay. But if you want a big strong woman to wrap her arms around you and make you feel safe then go get a dude. LOL

I would. She looks like a tranny. LOL

Do you have a secret tranny fetish? LOL
Gina Carano is one of the most attractive, factory issue berginer having women alive and it’s clear you like cock, and lots of it. It’s ok, just be a fag and don’t wear women’s clothing or pretend you’re a woman.
