Hate Speech as a concept enrages me because it's a nebulous description and serves just to shut down criticism. The whole cancel culture bullshit and the conservative outrage about that is how it's effectively using "she said, he isn't allowed to defend himself" to fire people. I think it's the issue that most media outlets do not show logical opposition to certain things. Gay marriage does have good opposition in that state sanctioned marriage was a way to encourage people to have kids, when you give non-reproductives the same tax incentives for marriage you either have to cut the tax incentives for marriage or other shit. The media never really gave light to this side and instead focused on insane fundie Christians who are not even respected by other sects.
Germany had tons of Covid lockdown protests, but you never heard of them in the Mainstream. Most motherfuckers will believe whatever narrative the powers that be want them to take, like good Nigger Cattle.
