Honestly I wouldn't even bother taking Ford up on the offer. It's a one-day classroom/track course and if you want to get any more than that you have to put out an extra couple grand. The "coursework" is probably something you could find on YouTube for free and you're going to be putting out your own money for travel and lodging just so you can explore Concord, North Carolina for a couple days. The whole thing strikes me as what essentially amounts to a timeshare presentation for something you already purchased to get you to hopefully buy in for the second day plus extra merchandise because what else are you going to do that weekend anyway? The #5 thing to do in Concord according to Trip Advisor is a goddamn park so I'm going to venture a guess that it isn't exactly a vacation hotspot.

If I were him, I would do the Porsche or BMW versions of that sort of thing. You are totally right that its all basically a timeshare sales kind of thing and has nothing to do with racing. But the better ones get you the opportunity to drive interesting/rare/expensive things on the track for a little while. But obviously under tight restrictions and control. But given that Nick has already bought the expensive thing, I have no idea what he would get out of it.
Typically what you would get is some baby training on how to drive the car, a ride in the car with a good driver showing what the capability of the car is if you drive it right and some controlled driving in the car yourself under the driver's supervision.
And buying merchandise is always a MAJOR part of the experience. I also agree that there is a whole bait and switch involved where you don't really get to do anything fun unless you buy day two.
The other thing he could do is that there are spectacular car rental experiences in Las Vegas. Really high-end exotic performance cars. But he probably wouldn't have any interest in that. As he talked about with Dick Masterson, "real" fun in vegas is white trashing it up drinking, gambling at cheap hotels, going to bad strip clubs and getting high. Who would want to drive a Ferrari when you could be getting high at Circus Circus with Camelot?

Do Euro companies still do that? I know Porsche does that since they have 2 race tracks in the US now.
