House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News' Tucker Carlson exclusive access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 riot, McCarthy sources tell me.
  • Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.
Why it matters: Carlson has repeatedly questionedofficial accounts of 1/6, downplaying the insurrection as "vandalism."
  • Now his shows — "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Fox News, and "Tucker Carlson Today" and "Tucker Carlson Originals" on the streaming service Fox Nation — have a massive trove of raw material.
Carlson told me: "[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret."
  • "If there was ever a question that's in the public's interest to know, it's what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It's impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that."

Between the lines: The process with Carlson started in early February, according to a communication between the show and a McCarthy representative that I was shown.



Flashback: McCarthy told reporters in Statuary Hall last month that he thinks "the American public should actually see all [that] happened instead of a report that's written [on] a political basis." (Video, beginning 10:50)
  • Pushing for the release of the footage, Carlson argued on his show last month that Washington has "a regime of secrecy and deceit."
Carlson last year called the attack an "outbreak of mob violence, a forgettably minor outbreak by recent standards."

in 2016 trump got the gop nomination because gop remember what ross perot did by spiting the conservative vote.

Again I m confused by desantis. All he had to do was be friendly with trump, makes sense cause they are in the same state. Find what trump issues people like, basically steal trumps momentum with out the scandal and baggage.

In stead he lets trump put a target on his back.

It'd be foolish for him to run in '24 anyway. Let Trump have his rematch and if he wins, great. Let him serve his second term and have him pass the torch to you on the way out. If he doesn't win, shit on him for four years while saying "I'll get this party, and this country, back on track."

The only reason why I can think of that he's teasing a run is if the donors are nudging him to.

Called it so long ago, probably on this forum too. I never liked Desantis, got a bad vibe and my gut has rarely been wrong in my lifetime. Trump might also be compromised, he did originally run as a democrat in 2016 and switched when he could see the writing on the wall. Perhaps there are two global super powers that are fighting each other in proxy...maybe that's just the weed.

Speaking of weed, the Delta 8 THCO I actually agree with. The problem the DEA had was that THCO is a lab modified chemical of delta x and doesn't occur naturally in nature. THCO or THC Acetate was an alleged experiment for researching chemical weapons. Apparently a single drop of the stuff could make a soldier very high for days on end. TLDR: I agree with the decision, it doesn't impact the stuff I actually use. But I'm sure this is the first lurch of the snow pack before the avalanche.

The longer story is:
DeSantis was a uniparty flop, they were hoping to get Desantis strong enough to overwhelm Trump entirely. This failed. They then tried to sow discord within the party hoping to damage Trump heavily in a contested primary. This failed. They have gone to plan C, an endorsement of DeSantis in the hopes it pulls enough uniparty votes to just barely push DeSantis over the edge that Trump decides he could do better as a third party.

Or, in short. DeSantis was floundering too much so they are recouping assets.

Honestly, I doubt we’re going to see that. I think a lot on the right are more content to just let everything burn to the ground because they see no point in fighting to save what’s currently existing, and just let Social Darwinism guide what happens among the ashes.

Who? Trump or DeSantis? Because making Trump a martyr would honestly galvanize the MAGA base even more than they already have. Or am I autistic and that is the point you're trying to make?

Trump. Everyone wants to get rid of him, but they can’t figure out a way to make it happen in a way without his supporters calling bullshit or raising accusations of a coup. And if anyone goes near him, or if he dies for practically any reason these days before a second term, that’s literally every #bodycount and #suicided theory being confirmed, and then the question becomes who was behind the order.

And then there’s the chance someone acts, if only to make that which is going down in flames…burn down a little faster.

At least she had the common decency to do it before the information age came into full effect.

It's on the same level of embarrassment as when white house press releases tell the citizens that everything is going great, actually way better. Economy, job numbers, inflation are all going better than their wildest dreams. And then you look outside (or read any non-pozzed discussions) and go "I think those white house guys might be lying."

The MAGA plan for 2024 is to utilize the D's election fortification tactics against them. Trump himself has mentioned ballot harvesting will be a core part of the 2024 campaign.

Essentially, Republicans overperforming polling when low propensity working class voters show up, which is what happened thanks to Trump's working class appeal in 2016 and 2020. They didn't show up in 2018 and 2022.

Democrats overperform polling when they utilize election fortification, polls were still mostly off in 2020 (R's generally overperforming because of the above factor) but in 2022 the low propensity working class voters didn't show up and in states where I suspect they may have showed up like Arizona, election fortification made D's overperform polling in an unprecedented manner.

In 2024, it's very likely that low propensity working class voters show up again because it'll be a Presidential year with Trump as the likely R nominee. And if the R's manage to use election fortification in their favor, it could cause an even bigger overperformance compared to polling than 2016 and 2020.

caveats: R's don't apply election fortification as effectively or D's manage to impede the counter-fortification efforts in some fashion, the D's are somehow more popular in 2024 than they are now (I have noticed that they are trying to make Chomo Joe more appealing to working class whites via ripping off parts of the MAGA platform as shown in the State of the Union speech, but I'm unsure if that will actually work out), the country breaks apart and a Presidential election is an afterthought
