We 'gender' animals to classify them. So we can talk about them without confusion. The same reason we give all species a Latin name. Using a dead language makes the species' names universal, so no one has to learn a second language to get their basic point across. The same is true for sex. A long time ago someone made the decision that females create the eggs and males create the sperm and that's the way it's going to be. They made that choice so people can easily talk about stuff in the world that actually matters. Shit like curing sex-specific cancers.

I'm sure her world wasn't always so narrowly focused. Unfortunately, when you create echo chambers and fill them with people who spew the same rhetoric about the same "causes" as yourself it's easy to get tunnel vision and forget that those things aren't the entirety of your identity - especially when you're playing to an "audience" rather than shit-talking with actual friends who give a damn about you as a complete person and not just someone to robotically validate their feelings and opinions.

Really, it would make no sense not to gender animals, because most animals actually have more drastic sexual dimorphism than humans, and operate on rigid gender roles to survive as a species. She's also obviously never bothered to look into animal behavior very deeply if she thinks a creature with more than two genders would confuse biologists. We already have studies on organisms with three or more genders, even some with extra sexes, and we handle it fine. Take the side-blotched lizard, for instance - they're notable for having the greatest amount of genders that can be objectively observed, with three different kinds of males and two females defined by their hormone balances, appearances and behavior.

Nora could always just say those things to me directly on twitter. She knows my handle and even blocked it. Only reason I say my stuff here is because she arbitrarily blocked me without me even doing anything on twitter and now in order to say anything to her, I have to post it here because she can't block me on kiwi. I really wonder if it ever crossed her and David's minds that I never would have cared about either of them to form an opinion at all if they had not blocked me first and declared me a "bad" person.

I might argue that Nora really does nothing but create her own "enemies" from nothing but thin air at least in my case.

Basic googling brings up many fascinating articles and other bits of knowledge you can easily use to augment your own arguments and understanding of literally any subject you care to look in to.

There is much wrong with this tweet, but that wrongness is compounded by Nora's claim that she is especially literate.

Firstly, there is no such word as "catlysted" or even "catalysted".

Secondly, the verb form of catalyst is catalysed.

Thirdly, the concept of a trigger and that of a catalyst are not synonymous, they are not interchangeable terms.

That no one corrected her about a non-existent word gives you some idea of the environment she has created for herself on her social media. Nora has no feedback loops to keep her aberrant behavior in check and that is how she likes it. She can post literal nonsense and get 5 retweets and 25 likes. I'm sure it'll be fine to, say, put all these quail in this cage together...oh, you say if you put them in at anything less than a 3:1 female:male ratio the males will literally mate the females to death? Humans have been using sexual dimorphism in animals to improve the techniques of animal husbandry since prehistory. But hey, fuck all those millenia of pastoralists and agriculturalists, and a century of learning about the biochemistry and embryology of sexual development.
