Most people are retarded and fail to do even the bare minimum of opsec, such as not using the same name across multiple sites. In Ethan Ralph's case, he even reused the same password across multiple sites too and didn't use a password manager, then didn't cover up his stream while he was signing up for an account. Most people aren't even aware or actively deny that any time they get doxed it's entirely their own fault.

The users of SS who killed themselves were driven to do so because of their mental health and/or life circumstances. Maybe some of them could have been stopped with appropriate IRL help. Or maybe they couldn't. Not everyone can be saved. The ones determined to die were able to find some support and comraderie in what were probably the hardest and scariest moments of their lives. Maybe able to go out in a less painful manner too. It sounds macabre and twisted but why should they have that taken away? I'm sorry about what happened to Shawn but she didn't commit suicide because of a website.

And if you want to talk about destigmatizing suicide and being able to discuss it...what do you think SS is doing? Would there be that much more outrage? What the hell would they do, hand out pamphlets and provide group sessions for people who are suicidal? How would doing the exact same thing (providing information and community, but not physically assisting in any way) irl result in more outrage?
