Are you always this ignorant and passive aggressive? How about you start talking sense instead of making absurd claims. Lucas has no wife and no children. That automatically makes his parents his next of kin. If they were no longer alive when he died his next of kin becomes his next closest living relatives. In this case that is his brothers
Here is a list of the order in which next of kin is determined by law. Its at the top
Next of kin must be notified of a persons death as long as there are living next of kin. Both for the obvious notification the person has died and everything that comes with that, and for estate related purposes. In this case that is his parents. They are both his next of kin, they must both be notified, as persons entitled to letters. Not for the least of which reasons being the legal problems that would result if notice was withheld and that parent disputed the disposition of his remains and anything related to that, or thought something was suspicious about the situation and wanted an investigation of some kind conducted. There is also the fact that in the absence of a will lucas's administration of lucas's estate would be his parents. Either one or both would serve as joint executors. Not that there is anything in said estate to deal with beyond his few personal belongings and body but there is legally more to an estate than just distributing property, taxes and seeing to the disposition of a persons remains. Both have the right to dispute who becomes said executor or whether its a joint situation. In other words, there are multiple reasons why they have to be notified of his death
