Imagine framing a fun action scifi cartoon about metal alien men fucking murdering the shit out of each otheras a serious political statement about the implied future of society. The reason it's set in 2005 is because it's a fucking timeskip from the year the original first few seasons is set in which is the 80s and the humans already fucking know about and interact with said metal alien men, not because they thought earth would be in full cooperation with robot ayys. You're right but for the wrong reason. Nobody cares who said chungus first, what matters is who coined or popularized it. On that front Jim's right and he used it frequently enough to make it a more popular term. But his use of chungus has nothing to do with the meme. When people used big chungus no one was thinking about Jim Sterling or his shitty show. They were thinking of fat Bugs Bunny. I'm sure it eats at him that someone else took the joke he was using and became far more popular then him.

He didn't popularize it, it was already popular before he started claiming he made it. Fat bugs big chungus was a meme necromancy hybrid of sorts of forever tying the nonsense word to fat bugs. Jim used the fat bugs chungus phenomenon to basically draw attention to himself by claiming he was the guy that "started it".
