I used to think Shapiro was cool at the beginning when he was trying to build a fanbase with is public debates. But then he settled into the typical Neocon/RINO talking points when he had a good income stream. So I realized he's really just the internet arm of AIPAC.

I just find it amusing when someone tries to come in with "We will just unite americans under the one true way to run everything" as if thats an improvement or what most people want, rather than "Maybe the government shouldn't be fucking around in this space, y'all make your own choices". I know "I'll do fucking nothing" doesn't sound like a winning position but by god I think it'd stand a chance.

Yeah it was called noblesse oblige. Guys like Rockefeller eradicated hookworm in Appalachia, Carnegie built libraries that are still used to this day, etc. That all went away with the rise of Judeo-Capitalism because the beneficiaries of this system have a blood curdling hatred for the lumpenproletariat. Now we have billionaires obsess over why we still choose to eat meat while flying around in a private jet.

I think the elite still have a sense of noblesse oblige, but it's deranged. Through the 19th century, there was a sense among the elite--both persons and nations--that they should uplift people, perhaps even to their own level. They built beautiful churches in slums, they commissioned public art as fine as anything in a museum, they endowed universities (still useful at that time) and created prizes for achievements. At some point, the focus shifted from inspiring and empowering to managing.
