Yeah it could be pretty hilarious but on the other hand i knew a few years back they had very heavyhanded moderation so i dont know how much we could shitpost really

There's definitely enough salt there to open a mining company though

Fark was always a liberal circle-jerk. On election day in 2004 I remember reading it for live reactions specifically because I wanted to see the meltdowns as Bush was confirmed for a second term.

And boy did they melt down. People think the internet is politicized now, but at the time it seemed like everyone on the internet believed that Bush would declare martial law in his second term. Basically Trump but more competent.

Both sides think that any moment now the barbarians are going to crash through the gates. I remember how certain many of the right were that Obama's first act as president would be to institute Sharia law and/or white genocide.

Anyone remember back in the day when the owl memes took over FARK.com? That was good fun.

The focus used to be on headlines that were actually funny or clever, now the politics section is just 100% trolling without anyone even trying to come up with a funny headline. The mods approve obvious trolling headlines to get mouseclicks, the userbase is full of easily-triggered morons, the whole thing should be put down. Honestly, I wouldn't even care if it's spergy and full of pissing contests if they were at least funny and full of dank memes.

The big irony is that Drew Curtis is a right-wing Republican pro-guns, hates PC and (probably) supports Trump. He's the exact type of shitlord his userbase hates and he's managed to milk some of them $60/year to see a bunch of headlines with no comments that were not funny enough to make it to the main page. Made millions in the process.
