Resident Evil - Virgin Vampire Wine Mom vs Chad Magnetic Lebowski

REmake3 was so atrocious it blew my mind that they sold it for full price when it felt like a generous asset flip at best. I hated it so much it basically destroyed all the good will Capcom had clawed back with 7 and REmake2.
I find it funny how a lot of what people are saying about the RE3make--the whole asset flip/glorified expansion pack deal--are things that are equally true of the original RE3. Truly, Capcom.... Capcom never changes.

Which, fun fact, was actually not meant to be a numbered entry. In Capcom's original plans, Code Veronica would've been RE3 and Nemesis would've been a spinoff title. But they got cold feet since RE was associated with Sony at the time while CV was going to (for awhile) be a Dreamcast exclusive.

It would've made more sense that way, since Code Veronica actually feels like it significantly advances the story. Why isn't that getting a remake?

EDIT: I never did bother with any of the REmakes due to either not owning the hardware or simply not caring... I especially dislike that RE2 and 3 are done to be darker and edgier and play like RE4 (which I already find boring).... all I know about RE2 is that someone made a Claire nude mod.

Which I think says good things about the fandom that they never made one for Sherry as well. You know other fandoms would have.

A lot of assets were reused into RE3, but they also built a lot of assets. Most of the reused assets are just cars, restaurant signs and the RPD, otherwise it's new from my understanding.

It was a rushed game and it doesn't feel like that at all.

RE3R reeks of it.

CV was never at any point RE3. This is a misconception perpetuated because of 1 interview where one of the devs said that it's a "real" sequel to RE2, but he was talking about the fact that it fully took place after 2 chronologically, while RE3 played out (without beind pedantic) concurrently. CV was a partially outsourced spinoff.

The "real" RE3 never saw the light of day, and was meant to take place on a boat with HUNK as the protagonist. This game was cancelled because the team received PS2 dev kits and decided to start developing RE4 for PS2 instead. This was the version of RE4 that became DMC1.

Nemesis was indeed meant to be a budget spinoff, but it got elevated to RE3 due to a Sony brand deal for another numbered RE on PS1, and the fact that the original RE3 was no longer being made.

Main villain is a cross dressing maniac, the fag mafia would take exception to that in current year.
And the core plot is built around that so I can't see them being able to mitigate that without drastically changing the plot.

Having Alfred psychotic and not going all the way would be dumb.

Imagine in the (current) Year of our Lord that any studio, even one filled with confused and politically apathetic nips like Capcom, would ever touch the cross-dressing Alfred plot. I can see them doing everything but because it's okay to show him being psychopathic and cruel but crazy and wearing women's clothes? That's awfully bigoted don't you think? Anything even troon-adjacent is nuclear and unless you're absolutely crazy it isn't worth the headache and chemo treatments.

Assuming they remake CV I can already see the Kotaku/Motherboard/TheGamer hitpieces before the game comes out. In a sense, Capcom is screwed regardless because of the previous game's legacy.

they going to remake it right? it's the one game that most people are split down the middle on and would actually 100% benefit from the treatment. Although with my luck they'll redo 5 or 6(!) because they sold so well.

Yeah it's a landmine no matter what they do. It's always been a very divisive game since half absolutely love it and in a lot of cases is their favorite, and the other half think it stinks. I'm in the middle.

I'd rather them not do it at all if you're going to retcon it that hard. I mean, maybe they could still include it and not draw so much attention to it. Remove Claire's line rightfully calling him a cross dressing freak and how he'll never be a woman.

Im in a even bigger minority; I had more fun playing Survivor than CV.
I’ve been kinda wanting to try that again. I rented it from blockbuster and didn’t like it. There’s a mod in development to play the whole game in third person with fixed camera.

It's just one of those games that were so bad I ended up enjoying it. Wish I could have played it with a light gun.

The thing that turned me off was aiming with the d pad. Although I would bet you can switch it to the analog on emulator.

I'm sure they exist, you just haven't seen them because you'd only find them on NSFW specific mod sites. Also, I know for a fact that SFM porn of Sherry exist, posted on Pixiv, so there's that.

They are too scared to even touch it probably, but theoretically they could just change the tone and switch a few lines. Like Claire calling him a crossdressing freak could be changed to "wow so heckin' valid, brave & stunning but he's she's evil for reasons totally unrelated to crossdressing! Trans rights are human rights!"

Code Veronica would be well served by a remake less people are familiar with it. Who hasn't already played RE4? Unless they're really shaking things up(essentially making RE4-2) the remake feels a bit unnecessary. And the rain is too white.
When they said they were remaking 4 I was very disappointed but assuming it isn't total dogshit I've come around to being excited for it even if it's totally unnecessary (not that any of these are [except for CV IMO]). If I had an order of remakes I'd like it'd be CV and then 0. They're starting to run out of options though, have to start making original games again. :o

Although I wouldnt be surprised if they turned around and did 1 again either.

0 would be interesting, hadn't thought of that, with that one they also have a chance to make it a better game.

It's the Capcom cycle. Produce a couple really good games, then while riding high screw the pooch.

Speaking of it being an asset flip, I think Capcom knew they painted themselves into a corner. With 3make being announced fairly soon after the release of REmake2, they knew that if they didn't produce something that the RE hype would die down, so instead of actually planning out a proper sequel they took the bare bones of RE3, trimmed that down, and slapped a new coat of paint on it.
