Being a meteorologist in Southern California might seem easy - every day is usually sunny and warm.
But this week's winter storm is challenging the area's forecasters to issue unusual alerts.
Just east of Los Angeles there's been a blizzard warning, unheard of in those parts.
"I have to be totally honest with you guys," one meteorologist told the camera, "I've actually never seen a blizzard warning."
That was Meteorologist Evelyn Taft of station KCAL. She's been covering California weather for nearly 14 years. She stresses this is a bizarre weather event for Southern California, known locally as SoCal. It's "unbelievable", she says.
As much as 5ft (1.5m) of snow could fall in the mountains with wind gusts up to 75mph (121km/h). The lower foothills, like Santa Clarita, will see a rare dusting of snow.

"Never thought that my move to LA would involve storm coverage… with snow," tweeted KCAL anchor Sheba Turk. She shared a video of herself in nearby Lebec, California, as big flakes of snow landed on her jacket. "Look at this," she says. "You see the flurries?"
"I had to stop and get gloves. I didn't even bring gloves to LA with me."
Meteorologist Paul Deanno warned his Twitter followers they might start to see snow starting late Wednesday night. That's "not a typo", he said.
"First blizzard warning of my career," tweeted Autumn Robinson of Spectrum News 1.
"...In So Cal," she continued. "Cool I guess."
Snow may be rare in Southern California, but the area is no stranger to extreme weather. Wildfires regularly spread through the area, and a years-long drought was just interrupted in January by heavy rains and flooding.

Meteorologists in SoCal and elsewhere say such extreme weather events are likely to grow more severe as the climate changes.

Every fucking article about a noteworthy occurrence in the weather has to have this faggy little tagline in it, every single one, even though there is ZERO evidence that storms have grown particularly stronger than the historical average in recent years. It's like how every article about something perceived as racist has to mention "the racial reckoning following the murder of George Floyd". Just absolutely maddening.

Around this time two years ago, we got light snow / sleet in my area of SoCal. Guess what's going on outside right now; it was light snow / sleet, but it's cleared up and the sun's out right now. There was also a time back in... like 2010 or so, where it snowed, like legitimately 2-3 inches of snow sitting on the ground for a couple of days. This isn't anything new or dangerous, it's rare, but it does happen from time to time.

And the events being cited as proof of a "climate crisis" are always mutually exclusive.

Too hot? Climate change.
Too cold? Climate change.
Too dry? Climate change.
too wet? Climate change.

That's why they stopped using the terms Global Warming and 2nd Ice Age like they used to back then.

Climate Change can be whatever the propaganda wants it to be.

It's the bounceback year after a La Nina cycle. We got dusted a few times in the late 90's living in Santa Monica after really dry years. It happens. It's not a sign of the climate change rapture any more than the Californians' inability to manage forests to prevent wildfires is.

Considering I never get to see Southern Commiefornia get snow (aside from the mountains), it should be quite the experience. I did see Hail stones on the road occasionally. So there's that.

Here's my uneducated theory, God is mad.
Considering that this place is considered by many now as "The land that God doesn't love anymore", it may be the case.

Commiefornia is the modern equivalent of Sodom and Gomorrah after all. Right down to its debauchery.

My wife and I are convinced that, since we watched it live, Ian Brandon Anderson's last curse-ye-ha-me-ha from the "YOU HACKED INTO HER ACCOUNT" video cursed us to always miss the snow even if it covers our entire state. Somehow it always misses our town, yet California and Texas got a winter wonderland this year. Fuck you, Ian.

We thought the Prison Saga might end the curse, but it looks like it only breaks when CWC dies.

SW Ohio had a 71f day today, because the whole La Nina cycle has gifted us a mild winter, but I think we're dealing with the better part of two generations who have no idea what La Nina/El Nino actually are. It's all just "Climate Change."

Wait until you get on the road with people that cannot drive on snow.
People in this state can't even fucking drive when it rains. I'd be on I-15 in/around San Diego, and suddenly everyone on the interstate does a hard fucking brake because they noticed water started falling from the sky. When it snowed, I stayed home, I don't have 4WD and never drove in snow, not interested in dying.

You tell people who don't know that Arizona has a monsoon season and they look at you like you have a dick growing out of your forehead.

My favorite thing they do is when there's some major heat/cold or a lot of rain/snow and they say "This is the highest/lowest recorded whatever in 80 years". Ok, so it happened 80 years ago, but this time it's because of climate change? What was it that caused it 80 years ago then. It's like they like any critical thinking skills.

They can't drive when the floor is moist either. They're still pushing 100 on the highway then wonder why when they hit the brakes hard due to being tailgating faggots that their truck started to slip and slide all over the place. The concept of water making the floor wet is foreign to the Beaner.
