Some suits are unavoidable, the kind that would result from accepting unsolicited songs are not, so they're avoided.
Not to mention that the vast majority of submissions to celebrities are of the quality of Russ's songs, and as such are a complete waste of time. Establishing such a policy allows for the poor unpaid interns to be spared from the horrors of being subjected to the works of delusional untalented creeps like Russ. Not to mention that it pisses off your fans if you outright reject them.

Such a policy more than makes sense for myriad reasons, but Russ's narcissism and stupidity effectively renders him blind to them.

I'm torn, but his belief that unsolicited policies are there solely to keep people (especially disabled people, namely him) from breaking into the "biz" might be my favorite Russ delusion. It's tied with his belief that everyone loves hookers.

I'm bored, so here's a list of my favorite Russ delusions, feel free to add to it:
  • Unsolicited policies are there just keep people without connections from breaking into the music business.
  • He's be famous already if it wasn't for those damn policies.
  • Everyone loves hookers, and would hire them all the time if it were legal more places.
  • He's a 9.
  • Every woman who uses her appearance to make money is selling sex, it's just a matter of price.

The damn judges wouldn't let him explain.
The Kiwi Farms has a personal vendetta against him.
Null should break his policy against deleting threads because Russ asked him to.

  • An associates degree is good enough.
  • He's almost a lawyer.
  • Alcohol is evil.
  • Women hate him only because of his paralyzed face.
  • If it wasn't for a damn Orchards he'd be famous, in a good way.
  • He's a good dancer.
  • The judges at AGT are prejudiced against disabled people.
  • His bio sis owes him for being the twin his parents kept.
  • He did nothing wrong but we're all just meanie pants to him.
And we could be here all night doing these things.

Stop bringing up his past. He’s moved on.

the thing is, unsolicited submissions from randoms are generally worthless garbage. even if the lawsuit risk was zero, it would still not be worth accepting them, because it's just not worth anybodys time to read them.
He's a lot like a little 8 year old boy writing letters to Santa, except with celebrities. He believes Taylor Swift goes through all of her fan mail on her free time.

My favorite Russ delusion is when he said "there's no rule saying I have to start from the bottom." He literally believes he's entitled to stardom and fame just because he wants it, and he truly thinks he's earned it, despite being a mediocre pianist at best and doing absolutely nothing worthwhile in his entire life. He thinks that he is famous, he just hasn't been discovered yet, and all these mean jerk lawyers and celebrities just hate him because he's ugly.

"Flattery gets you everywhere!"

And the fact he just comes right out and says shit like "It's a flattery song! I wrote it to flatter you, Taylor, so you'll let me into The Biz!"

Also the bizarre delusion that fame and popularity is permanent once attained, so he's only got to get just ONE song, book, etc noticed, then he's king of the celebrities forever.

" It's who you know. And not what you know " is another insane thing Russ thinks about Hollywood stardom.
My co worker laughs at that one alot.
he isn't even wrong in saying that entertainment is full of nepotism and not exactly a meritocratic industry.
what makes his bitching about it so funny is that even if the field was a perfect meritocracy, russ would still be excluded because he can't compete based on merit either, due to being an obviously talentless hack.

One of my favs is Russ’ belief that everyone else is as obsessed with celebrities as he is.
In his book he recounts being attacked by old lady and businessmen Taylor Swift fans and his fictional lawyer mentor is also a fan. Then there’s his fellow prisoners going wild for her music video.
That and talking about his "celebrity crush" as if that's just a totally normal and typical thing for an adult man to have, and that it's realistic to expect to woo and date them. In fact, his "crush" entitles him to it.

That's literally how my sister would talk about Joey from NSYNC when she was 10. Russ turns 32 in about a week and he's still doing it.
