This is almost certainly gay ops against AHS. Bardfinn (rightfully) gets a lot of hate for being a piece of shit in multiple ways, and has a lot of enemies. The threat is subtly worded to emphasize the broad reach of powermods, but what really makes this obvious is the r/wifebeaters which doesn't even exist -- it's trying to insinuate that Bardfinn is a wifebeater (probably because he is, at least according to his thread). While Reddit's rule that you cannot ban someone from one subreddit just for participating in another is seldom enforced, a threat like this that verges on extortion would probably be enough to get them to act.

It's a shame because making a giant list of wrongthinkers (he larps as a hate researcher and talks about his databases etc) and then targeting them individually is exactly the kind of thing he would do, but this has too many red flags to be real.

I wonder what the troon body count is at this point.. I mean they've been screaming about how buying the game is going to literally get them killed!

Considering how there have been people downplaying the BLM riots of 2020 despite all the publicity and tweets supporting it, they absolutely could if they wanted to.

The success of the game could be used to go "Oooh, this proves the backlash to this game is exaggerated by the chuds. This proves cancel culture doesn't exist, etc"

The comeback to this kind of argument should always be to point out that actual censorship is only one noxious aspect to cancel culture. The other is the attempt to silence popular opinion itself. The fact that the boycott failed so spectacularly is a further indictment to the concept as a whole, and specifically here in this case. That they were trying to force media, streamers and everyone else to partake in a hugely unpopular cause and crusade, demanding that media and business enforce it on everyone else despite most people disagreeing/not caring. OC i know they will hand wave it away as literal hate/violence that should never be given as a choice.. But that's the default anyway with these people. The best thing we can do is to force them to actually state their arguments, demands and POVs openly. For normies to take note and as an opening for fence sitters (especially out of fear) to more safely jump in.

There is a troon working as a staff writer there, who pitched the article from the other day about the media having a duty to attack trans people. The pitch was accepted, and nobody told the troon it needed a bit of toning down, because they would be dogpiled on the Onion's Slack (or wherever) for being transphobic.

The article did pretty well. Staff troon (or possibly, another troon writer) feels emboldened and pitches another article. No one dares say "maybe we shouldn't do two articles on the same thing in a week" for fear of being accused of endorsing genocide.

Troon writer produces this seething unfunny interview. By this point, the self-censorship is so entrenched no one even dares to suggest editing or adding some actual jokes, because how dare you police a brave trans person's creative output when they are literally fighting for their life?

(I am not entirely pulling this scenario out of my ass, similar things have apparently gone on with lone trans staff members at other outlets)
