She outright owns Harry Potter, she didn't sell it, she licensed it. I assume these are "progressives" advocating for a massive corporation to be able to just steal a single individuals ownership of their own IP for corporate gain. I will cheekily suggest that when they "arrest" Rowling the government should declare her assets forfeit for being part of the crime and hand the Harry Potter IP over to some multinational corporation, Twitter progressives love that kind of fascist shit.

This is the mentality and narcissism of the woke, thinking that they are superior in intelligence to be able to write a "better" Harry Potter. It's the same mentality of the writers who wrote for netflix's Cowboy Bepop and saying "we made it better". The unbelievable hubris.

If you are truly better, you write a new world, from scratch. You can never write a better Harry Potter because it's not made by you, not even if you ask Tolkien to write a Harry Potter.

Finally told her that I in no way believe a man can be a woman or vice versa. She is upset and is, as expected, likely going to block me eventually. And all this over the fact she caught me playing a damn video game. Still sucks that I've lost a friend over it, but it was bound to happen eventually.

Early on, she concedes the point that "playing a game isn't a Horrible thing". You could have maybe gone on the defensive and argued that playing said game doesn't mean you sign off on any of the IP author's beliefs. But I sense there are things in that conversation that you wanted to get out in the open, and I respect that. It can be so much harder when it's someone close to you.

I have a fair few 'friends' in my life who I'd love to sit down and have this frank and open discussion with. But they were never that close in the first place, so maybe they're better as lolcows than as friends. Some of my actualy= close friends are of this opinion too, and I worry about losing them. But one day I might get the courage to try it.

Besides, even if that person does regard a video game as unethical, it's like, who cares? A vegan can still remain friends with a meat eater, even if they regard the consumption of animal products as a form of state-sanctioned murder. If they can't, that's their own problem. Why should wizardshit be any different?
