Yeah. There is a reason for the spelling 'lede' as opposed to 'lead'. It originates from the old days of industrial printing for newspapers.

'Leads' went into the printing machines and contained ink pigment (and lead).

Lede was deliberately spelt to mean the first para of a story, and avoid any internal ambiguity.
