He could probably order takeout and asked for seconds. When I was in my facility, I'd see the staff going back to the kitchen for seconds or meal substitutes they'd want PB&J's if the meal was too healthy and this was all from the Bari Hall and at night there would be literally 3 or 4 delivery drivers delivering food, and this was happening during Covid. I was told I couldn't go outside to get air, but they could order delivery food. To be fair there was about a 3-month period where it stopped but it was resumed before I left, and drivers would leave the food at the front door and staff would bring it to them. When I asked how it could be allowed that people who couldn't even walk because of their weight were allowed that food and not on diets they said they weren't legally allowed to control what they ate.
