“Trans” and “troons” are essentially two very different things. From my experience, trans people just want to be the gender they feel they are and live their lives without really shoving it in other’s faces. The don’t want to be “trans”, they want to be the opposite gender. They also are typically understanding if you accidentally misgender or deadname them, since that’s how you knew them before and they realize it takes time to properly adjust.
Troons are the one who constantly identify as “trans”, never shut the fuck up about “being a victim”, constantly claim every little thing is “literally killing them”, and are typically terminally online cry-bullies.
I can assure you that there absolutely is a world of difference between the two, not the least of which being that former primarily covers the previous generation of medically-diagnosed sorts, whereas the more modern troon is almost *invariably* a self-diagnosed case, driven by a combination of desire to use victimhood as a defense and despite to flaunt their fetishes openly. There is a reason we have thousands of Troons covered with productive threads on this site after all, compared to their contemporaries.
Where things get complicated is that we have other catgegories: We have people who have latched onto the identity for acceptance, not realizing that unlike many such trends, the damage from going down this path
is fucking permanent. These are people who got into it for acceptance, only to in turn, become the same destructive pieces of shit as the people they were seeking approval from. That shit is what literally helped create Vade.
We also have the most depressing, heartbreaking shit you've ever heard - the ones literally browbeaten into it, as some asshole driven by ideology essentially tells well-meaning but ignorant parents that they have the choice of letting a child transition or their child committing suicide - while at the same time, it was some shithead trying to re-create John Money's experiments on a macro scale that told the child that they were trans and that their parents would disown them if they tried to go back to their real name and identity, at an age where kids don't even know which side of the fucking playground smells the worst.
That shit literally happened in my state this week. They get medical professionals to lie about the health risks and consequences and promise that everything is fully reversible when it isn't. They've fucking shredded parts of the psychiatric profession pushing this shit.
And it's being enabled at a fucking industrial scale. Prior to 2012, the number of people who were medically diagnosed with Dysphoria was about 0.005%. Very rare. Thank to self-diagnosis and affirmative care, CDC statistics show it at nearly 5 percent of young people now.
That is completely inorganic growth, enabled by essentially unshackling the condition from the medical establishment beyond cynically exploiting it. You'll note that this means a good chunk of the trans community right now are essentially victims of this system as much as they are perpetrators - making this mechanism terrifyingly self-sustaining.
All of this is why it's so hard for many Kiwis to appreciate that there
is fucking nuance in this issue. And.... You really can't blame them for not caring about that nuance, despite the fact that it feeds directly into what the shitstains doing this want. When we have the likes of Liz Fong-Jones going around and trying to get ISPs to fucking illegally crack down on us, Jessica Yaniv making a fucking mockery of the court system in Canada, whatever the Honey Bunches of Fuck went down over in Loudon County, or the entire TLL shitshow with Greta Gustava literally going to the webmaster's house, you absolutely cannot blame them for deciding: "Fuck it, I don't care anymore," and just judging that group by its most visible assholes.
