The tragedy happened just ten miles away from the Walt Disney World Resort, where innumerable amounts of people visit to get away from our harsh everyday realities. Goddamn.

WDW, Universal Studios and SeaWorld Orlando apparently tightened their security in response.

Hillary Clinton refuses to acknowledge radical Islam because "it plays into ISIS's hands."

Hillary Clinton on Monday said she will not “demonize” the religion of Islam by using the specific phrase “radical Islam” when discussing the Orlando nightclub massacre after calls from Donald Trump to do so.

Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, responded to Trump’s criticism following Sunday’s deadly mass shooting at Pulse Orlando during a telephone interview with NBC’s Today show.

“In my perspective, it matters what we do, not what we say,” Clinton said. “To me, radical jihadism, radical Islamism, I think they mean the same thing. I’m happy to say either, but that’s not the point.”

“I’m not going to demonize … and declare war on an entire religion,” she added. “That’s just plain dangerous and it plays into ISIS’s hands.”

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, had slammed both Clinton and President Barack Obama for being “weak” for failing to describe the shooting as an act of “radical Islam.”

“In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words ‘Radical Islam’. For that reason alone, he should step down,” Trump said in a statement Sunday. “If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words ‘Radical Islam’ she should get out of this race for the Presidency.”

In a Today interview on Monday, the mogul again renewed his call for a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S. and reiterated his criticism against American leaders. “It’s insulting to our country that Obama doesn’t use the term radical Islamic terrorism,” Trump said. “He’s not addressing the issue, he’s not calling it what it is—radical Islamic terrorism.”

Clinton also pushed for gun control Monday in a separate interview with CNN’s New Day. Authorities say Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen used a handgun and an assault-type rifle during his attack.

“Yes, there is a right for law-abiding, responsible Americans to own guns. And yes, there are reasonable common-sense measures to try to keep people safe from guns,” Clinton said. “We’ve got to figure out the best way to move forward on that.”

Both Clinton and Trump are expected to address the shooting in separate addresses Monday.

That's it. She and Obama are literally refusing to acknowledge that Islamic extremism motivated this attack because it's not politically correct.

And people wonder why Donald Trump continues to be popular. The guy's a moron but at least he's not afraid to call a spade a spade.

It's kind of bizarre, I just read an article from CNN claiming the exact opposite. However if you watch the video, the headline is a very small part of what she said, the larger message being it doesn't matter what we call it, so long as we take action. She also plays into fears of Islamophobia (Islamophobia-phobia?) surrounding the actions our country chooses to take.

Fuck's sake. Of course someone was going to try get in. But I guess it's not entirely out of the question that this was the idea; plant some spy cameras about and see if any of Omar's little friends decides to pay a visit and clean up a little.

In my opinion, it's more likely that the press pried the door open and went looking for information. It wouldn't be beyond the press to compromise a crime scene for a story.

  • It has strong ties with President Erdogan and his party, the AKP.
  • It is known for its hate speech against LGBT groups, Jews, Christians, and Armenians.
  • According to Turkish think-tank the Hrant Dink Foundation, Yeni Akit is one of the worst offenders when it comes to using hate speech against minorities, in particular the LGBT community, but also against Jews, Armenians and Christians. In just four months in 2013, when the foundation competed its last survey, they found 175 articles where hate speech was directed at one of eight separate minority groups.
  • According to Freedom House, an NGO which monitors democratic freedoms around the world, Turkish press freedom has deteriorated sharply over the past several years. In 2015 alone, three journalists were killed in connection with their work, while dozens more were prosecuted by the government under anti-terrorism laws for reports critical of the government. Accreditation for journalists was also brought under further government control, allowing officials to handpick reporters for prominent positions. Because of this, publications that are allowed to operate freely - such as Akit - are seen to be voicing the de-facto views of Erdogan and his regime.

Power leveling ahead
My best friend is going up there to attend a vigil tonight. He was supposed to be at the club that same night (he's too poor to go clubbing thank goodness).
I'm incredibly angry. We lost four friends. I am literally terrified of anything happening to him. This has affected a lot of people in Miami and Orlando. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Reddit continues to double down on the stupid

After getting ripped up in several major newspapers for the "censorship scandal" Spez decides to post new ruels for /All and now /all will be moderated by Reddit admins to ensure a "proper presentation" what ever the fuck that means.

Of course /The_Donald disappears from the front page almost instantly despite a huge volume of up-votes and posts. Pissing off the shitposters and no-lifes of Reddits most active subreddit doesn't seem the best way to sweep the censorship issue under the rug. Spez has the IQ of a piece of dry toast if he thinks modd'ing /The_Donald off the /All will end the issue.
