It's obviously not a concern to people being paid to harm them, but monkeys can get diseases from humans as well. Zoonosis risk goes both ways with non-human primates. For example, deadly disease outbreaks like ebola are a major conservation concern for non-human primates in the region as well (like mountain gorillas).

I got to go on a lemur animal encounter at my local zoo once (basically go behind the scenes with a keeper of a specific animal&feed the animal a treat thru a barrier). This was pre-COVID, but we still had to wear a mask and gloves to protect the lemurs from diseases. The keeper explained diseases that aren't usually serious in humans can be very serious to non-human primates, therefore everyone getting in close proximity to them had to wear PPE.
