Bad webcomics

Going on that Penny Arcade show really fucked Erika Moen.

For anyone not aware, what happened was Penny Arcade did a reality show that was supposed to be like Idol or one of those shows except for webcomics, except if the contestants only sang to get out of elimination and the show just focused on contract deals and publicity signings. The problem was, everyone they hired was already working in webcomics, Moen had started Dar ten years prior at that time and had just published her GN Bucko through Dark Horse. Anyway, Moen lost, but a consolation prize was a dinner with Robert Khoo, Penny Arcade's CEO and they'd talk about possible ventures. Moen mentioned wanting to make a webcomic about sex education and reviewing sex toys, and Khoo helped her get it going.

The problem? This was when 50 Shades was coming out, and Moen, by her own admission, does not deviate from her own personal tastes enough to properly review toys beyond vibrators, and is too vanilla to get into the more extreme stuff (Vanilla compared to deviants, at least).

If she'd worked with better writers and done another GN, she could have made some interesting stuff. But doing shitty drawings of fat people having sex every week really fucked her over.
I have said before but I think Erica is a normal straight woman with normal tastes that has deep mommy issues she hasn't worked trough. She wants to be a super queen queer who is super open minded about cool things like sex but that just isn't making her happy because that's not who she is. Just read the pregnancy scare she had, it's pretty clear that she thinks she shouldn't want kids but actually wants kids. She comes across most authentic when she talks about her husband and how much she loves him. I think she wants a family but deathly scared that's going to be just like her childhood that wasn't happy.

Lore Olympus books I saw in a Turkish bookstore, a few week ago. Only 1 one of 1st volume was there, made me think that someone might have spent their money on it. The books are in English, so someone spent hella money on them if anyone bought it.

I was remembering wrong, the pages are actually arranged like a comic book, not like the webcomic. The pages weren't half-empty, as I said previously. Sorry.

My guess is that back whenever she tried to reinvent herself into the all-knowing, sex-positive queer queen she still isn't, she didn't expect her middle age to include a monogamous marriage to a cisgendered, heterosexual husband who actually would like kids. That and the fact that with every passing year she probably looks more and more like the mother she hates must be really fucking with her head.

Seeing other comic artists (like Kate Beaton and Lucy Knisley) create families and draw about the experience without crying about how parenthood ruined their lives must add to it. Suddenly, she is being shown examples of comic artists with nuclear families who seem to be... happy? Shocking, I tell you.

Though if she were to reproduce, do you think she'd realize how fucked up her teen sex-ed book is? Would she try to wipe it clean from her record or would she double-down and go full "C is for Clitoris" on the tot?

Better she remain the genetic dead end that she is.

I can believe she was, at some point, into women as it's becoming more common to hear stories about girls in their late teens coming out as lesbians and later losing their attraction to the same sex. Hell, Megan Rose Gedris rose to fame from a comic about coming out as a dyke as a teenager, then did a guest strip for Oh Joy Sex Toy where she removed any chance of getting pregnant now that she's fucking dudes. It feels like for many people, homosexuality is just this thing you need to get out of your system and then you naturally go back to straightness.

I see your point though. It's probably worse for Erika because she lives in Portland and is surrounded by hipsters who would ostracize her for not following their ideals. Hell, she considered doing a porno but backed out of it because her feminist friends would have hated her for it. During Covid, she grew her hair out and stopped dying it, and she looked fine, but then got it all chopped off as soon as she went back to the office.

I think she's nearly 40 so it's going to be difficult if she decides to try now. Just look at the Devil's Panties, Jennie Breedan didn't have kids until her late 30s and had a ton of trouble just conceiving. and then she learned about all the health risks from having kids so late.

Oh if only I had started obsessively archiving things much earlier than I did...
The Webcomic Overlook did a review of a comic called "Jack" (not the bunny one) created by Catya Alvheim.
It's about a guy who gets a hockey mask attached to his face with screws for a laugh and then goes on a murderous adventure.
It is the best representation of early 2000's DeviantArt edge and unhinged creativity, and also one of my favourite webcomics.
So it's a great tragedy that Catya threw it into the void with no intention of resurrection.
If anyone, by some cosmic coincidence, archived it somehow I would greatly appreciate it.
The only remaining bits of the comic I've found is on her FurAffinity.

I remember that one, I went to check up on her and she's trooned out and now does porn animations. I find that funny because before she trooned she wasn't really in to doing porn now it's all she does.

Webcomics had lesbians. The seeds were always there.
Your not wrong. I went to check out some other webcomics I remember from back in the day.

One called Gastrophobia now called Pepsiaphobia the author trooned out to a MTF. I think I remember some lesbian stuff in it. If you go to the about page all the cast now has pronouns and this.

There was also an old webcomic call Girly, full of softcore lesbian stuff and wackiness. Went to check up on it and...

Don't know if Moon over June was done by a tranny.

Maybe? Wocgirl has the troon flag in his/her Twitter nickname, but otherwise there's no mentions of it as far as I can find. Could just be a solidarity thing, who knows.

I do know that the guy behind Real Life (that painfully boring webcomic) trooned out, and it somehow got even worse. That's probably already been mentioned though.

Gastrophobia was wokie but sort of low key about it. Mainly stopped because Muh Bush and an E-tier update schedule. It was about Amazons and Phobia, the main character, was an Amazon with a son Gastro. She was implied (and possibly stated) to be Bi, and the Amazons were naturally pretty lesbian coded.
I'm a little surprised but not shocked the creator trooned out.

Josh Lesnik the lesbian fetishist doesn't shock me at all he trooned out to live his gay girl orgy fantasies.

Greg from Real Life trooning out was a shocker. But i guess with a life as boring as his you gotta add some excitement somehow.

Aaron Diaz drinking the horsepiss was hilarious.

What are our bets on when Ol' Handstab will shove his pen through his cock and troon out? He's practically removed his balls already, he just needs to get a wig on a put on a dress and he's there.

Hadn't heard this one. What's the story there?

To add to the list, pretty sure Dan Shive flirted with trannydom for a while. Not surprising given his comic is basically softcore transformation fetish porn with lots of gender bending. I think he cooled down about it and is just **non-binary** now.

I onlly found out about it from I think this thread, but I can't find the post. Anyway, this is him now:

owned so hard by getting called out for posting ok-shes-naked-and-focus-is-on-tits-or-ass-but-its-not porn of his waifu he lopped off his cock. A shameful nigga.

The shock that Shive hasn't trooned out I think can only be explained by that he has transformation fetish (among others) so if he trooned out he couldn't spank it imagining a magical beam made him grow tits hips and long hair.

coming here to give an honorary mention to all of comicfury's Pokémon tag and every single Nuzlocke comic on the Nuzlocke forums, because almost nothing there is good
ignoring what's made by literal children, every comic is infested by social justice warriors or being drawn by a 30 year old "trans woman" with a transformation fetish one of several young adults with obvious fetishes
give it a look if you want some easy laughs
(let me know if I need to be more specific for this thread or otherwise need to edit the post; not sure how bringing in new material works here, and I'm seeing a lot of other people post what look like mini-OPs when bringing up new topics, so I'll edit to fit that standard if it's required 👍 )

Fuck me I remember the Nuzlocke Forums. Nearly every run that was a fanfic or a comic had a tranny as the main character. They also tended to be pretentious because most people interpret your pokemon getting KO'ed as death in a Nuzlocke. It's insufferable.

you don't need to speak in past tense lol, that's very much still the case

I remember this defunct online comic company called Dark Brain. I understand that the comics were erotic ones for adults, but God, if you didn't have a rape fetish, most of the comics weren't for you. When done sparingly I think rape can be handled, but when all but one of the stories has someone getting raped, attempted rape or someone wants to rape/molest someone on multiple occasions, it turns into "this again?" and loses the impact the author wants. Also, some of the art was crap and it tried too hard to "edgy" at times like when a detective fantasizes about raping a lady pastor in her own church in front of her congregation and his coworkers for no reason other than "it's edgy". It's too bad, some of the stories had potential to be good.

Foreskin Man: No, it is not an erotic webcomic, but a PSA one that is now defunct. It's about a superhero whose sole mission is to put an end to male circumcision. He fights villains who are more obsessed with boys' foreskins than some pedos, including one that looks like a Nazi illustration of a Jew. (While the hero looks like a Aryan wet dream.) There was so cringe/crazy in that series that I wondered what was going on in the creator's head.
