I hate to break the illusion but despite the popular belief a huge percentage of vtubers are not men with voice changers. They are women, and worse they are some form of terminally online. Their streaming is a form of escapism until they can actually turn it profitable. In many cases they're only outlet to vent is to talk to their chat and oversharing is very typical. This isn't to excuse it but more to explain it.
Just to give a little pushback, I would argue that being behind an avatar grants a level of anonymity and allows people to be a little more open than they'd usually be.

Over the course of the past few weeks, ever since that stupid game came out, I have seen so much hatred, so many comments, so many idiotic decisions from the people I considered my peers to the point I felt physically sick but I didn't say anything. I didn't show the support that needed to be and while so many creators are being so carefully spoken, preaching shit like "I don't condone harrassment BUT-" while there was barely any proof of such, of transphobes getting a platform to speak so openly, to shame the 'lgbtq' community, to say they are savages, to say they are the enemy, which, holy shit, doesn't this seem kind of suspicious?
