A couple of people upthread said that the incendiary used in the video was thermite with magnesium in it and the color of the burning makes me think that's true. As other people also said White Phosphorus is really good at making smoke and the smoke is thermally opaque, hiding stuff behind the cloud from thermal imagery (lol, russians and thermal imagery). I just read on wikipedia that in WW2 Shermans engaging Panthers at long range would fire white phosphorus shells to blind them and cause the crew to probably abandon the tank (into burning white phosphorus. Holy shit that would suck.

It's simple: neither Russia nor Ukraine has WP munitions. Can't use what you don't have. To complicate things even more, same thermite pellets are used in both incendiary and illumination shells. Naturally, Twitter "OSINT researchers" can't tell one from another and screech about MUH WAR CRIMES every single time they see these "chandeliers".
Thermite can't be extinguished, only diluted or cooled down and unlike WP, generates enough heat to melt through steel. But it's not toxic, at least.

Well look when fighting a total nation war napalm isn't off the table. When trying to kill insurgents in a collapsing regime, or taking out a small third world power you want to win hearts and minds. Look I could have initially supported Russia if it was going to merely push into Kharkiv and Mariupol. I'm pretty sure every Ukie would have supported that too, instead they took a shot at the king, tried to do an American style regime change on a shoe string budget and ended up surprised Pikachu faced when it all backfired because they don't have plans in place like the Americans did in Iraq back in 1990 and 2003. Not to mention the Americans had prepared for 10k-50k in casualties and planned and executed and operation so well that they took minimal casualties.

Kharkiv is a very unique city in this whole thing. The city is filled with ethnic Russians that still use the USSR era names like Kharkov and Keiv and often have no interest in learning Ukrainian, yet they more often than not want nothing to do with the Russian Federation and are willing to out fifth communists and Pro-Russians. Some of the early footage in this war of entire convoys being torn to pieces with TDF forces combing though the wrecks for weapons and prizes were from Kharkiv and back in 2014 Russia shipped in saboteurs who were routed with prejudice. Personally I think the Russians know this and only made an attempt due to the Malyshev Factory having potental value. I think the Russians would have still ate shit in the region if they solely focused on Kharkiv Oblast.

It's not USSR-era names, it's Russian names. Similar to Czechs who call München Mnichov and Nürnberg Norimberk. Eastern Ukraine has a lot of Russian-speakers (among both ethnic Russians and Ukrainans), hence the Russian naming conventions.

Look sadly a lot of people have fallen for the I hate team blue so I will take every opposite position that team blue has and support everyone team blue hates. Also don't forget the Chinese propaganda efforts have been very effective.
