I don't understand, i fundamentally do not understand how something like this could possibly manifest.
To me it's almost as if they are doing exactly the opposite of what a healthy human being would do, akin to seeing the monster from the thing and saying "let's get chummy with that jolly fella".
What drives a person, especially someone so young, to get twisted and bent to such a degree they support pedophiles (LITERAL CHILD RAPISTS) and zoophiles (LITERAL ANIMAL RAPISTS).
These aren't things people naturally fall into, i don't remember these two groups being nearly as big as they were say.. 5 years ago?

Just because a statement is said a lot doesn't make it wrong. Consider first if the reasons it is repeated has merit. The early internet wasn't some safe zone for kids but everything was split between many, many websites giving particular niche degenerates a hard time in reaching out to them. This is one of many reasons it was safe er for minors while still being something of a minefield albeit a much less densely laid one. You give the degenerates a few decades to coalese into larger groups as the internet is consolidated into fewer and fewer pages and suddenly they have much easier access to kids to groom. Doesn't help that people like this generally have no lives and thus find their way into the moderation of said websites, keeping the gates open for their fellows.
