The way FFG constantly involves herself personally into Foodie's life, either directly or through comparisons-to-self, is a little grating. There's no doubt she's entertaining; she behaves like the "voice of reason" commenting on the nonsensical things Gunt says and does, and I think people find that liberating. Clotso is also unbelievably triggered by it, leading to even more entertainment. However FFG is obviously very ego-involved into the whole thing. By that I mean that she constantly compares herself to Chantal, and predictably finds herself to be superior in every metric. This isn't difficult as 99.9% of people will also find themselves to be superior should they compare themselves to Chantal. In psychology it's been established that when people use downward comparisons the underlying motivation is to feel better about themselves. When people wish to have an accurate assessment of their abilities, they compare themselves to their peers; and when they aspire to become an improved version of themselves, they compare themselves to people who are better than they are. If you look at FFG objectively, she's an unattractive middle-aged overweight woman working a low-status blue collar job. You can only make these facts look good if you compare them to an absolute trainwreck. FFG portrays her ego involvement as playing dirty or willingness to go low, but I would argue its' insecurity and common female-dynamics bitchiness. Comparing yourself to Foodie and finding yourself to be superior is... unnecessary. It's a given, it doesn't even need to be mentioned. Only someone that's insecure on some level would feel the need to not only bring it up but lean into it, over and over again.
