of course not but the whole idea of having a moderator who has power and privledges is that they are held to a higher standard and that the quality and culture of the subforum is something they take responsibility for. Actively enabling socks and drama tards like CX cuts against this charge.

site admin has taken responsibility many times for sheparding the culture sitewide to keep it fun and conforming to the “zeitgeist” as he calls it. Subforum moderators should be expected to do the same in their own jurisdiction. It’s about expectations, culture and trust, not thinking you can actually purge every sock.

I think Graf has been criticized because apparently he surrendered IP logging information about some guy who was involved in a Swatting or something, because a law enforcement agent asked (Or he approached them himself) something that Josh is opposed to do.

I don't know if it's even legal under data privacy laws but even if it was I believe the right thing to do would be to protect your user's privacy and only surrender that kind of information on a warrant or if subpoenaed by a judge. It's on them to provide reasonable suspicion or probable cause of criminal activity.

I am no webmaster so I don't deal with that kind of Ethical issue but this opens an interesting question. What do you guys think it would be right for @Null to do if it turned out one user is a snakething tier degenerate that posted incriminating yet not directly identifiable evidence that he's molesting/endangering a child in the forum, user is an idiot and registered with his school's fullname@schoo.edu email address. Would it be right for josh to:

• Contact law enforcement and surrender all potentially identifiable information proactively (Logs, IP, e-mail)
• Contact law enforcement and wait until information is asked for by legal means
• contact no one and refuse to surrender any information even if presented with a warrant or a subpoena
• contact no one, remove anything illegal the user might have posted and just wait until his dox with incriminating evidence is posted in the forum.

Null basically laid out that if a user gets banned and comes back on a new account and follows expectations and culture, nobody is going to give a fuck. Especially if they don't immediately do so. You can't prevent socks, but you can provide a policy that provides leniency for users and takes a lot of work off the shoulders of admins/mods so they aren't trying to solve an unsolvable problem.
If there was an issue, it'd be taken care of, as was said. It's a weird hill to die on.

CX is a spastic cow tipper which is why he got bullied off the site in the first place, the revelation that a mod is enabling his continued retardation and engaging in offsite drama related to him simply raises my eyebrow. This is why if I thought anyone should get demodded or whatever I would have said that in my initial post which I didnt, I just said I expected more and it had lowered my opinion of the mod in question. He already said he didn’t care and I’m just one retard. Nobody is calling for a crusade or to die on any hills.

I think the primary reason you didn’t immediately post on this forum confirming the sock once he admitted it to you is because you knew it would alienate him from you and make him stop talking to you. Why you wanted to keep his trust and communication only you know.
