Disney Adults / Disneymania

"Childish" isn't really the right word for a lot of these people. Especially that person's mom who got the family up at 5am to drag the kids round and do whatever she wanted, what kid actually acts like that at Disney? Slight PL but I was once a kid and have been around several of them in my adulthood, and I've never seen a kid plan their theme park day in a binder and obsess over it. They've never cried just seeing the castle after covid. Kids have no choice but to listen to and obey their body's hunger and tiredness signals, so it makes them miserable if they also have no social choice but to obey their asshole parents and not rest or eat.

No, I would bet big time that these Disney adults are like this in every other aspect of their lives. I think they're just total assholes. If Disney didn't exist, they'd immerse themselves in some other collection and obsession. Disney just makes it easy for them by offering shit to buy and "do" in every facet of life, but the asshole attitude and obsessive compulsions would find another outlet in some more "adult" theme.

I've heard Florida is ending Disneyland Florida's special, permit-exempt privileges that they have had for the past half century and no other company in Florida has had. The company is already in free-fall due to its terrible, derivative movies, can't wait for this law to go into effectiveness and accelerate the plummet.
They should have lost the copyright for Mickey Mouse several times over, its amazing how the laws about copyright durations changed just to suit one or two megacorpo. It should have originally entered public domain in the 80s and then again in 2003 and Disney always managed to lobby for extensions.

People have been speculating about that because 2024 its that time again for steamboat willy to enter public domain but for some reason Mickey itself is copyrighted until 2036 even if the steamboat willy cartoon is not, so dodged again. . Donald Duck and Pluto are set to expire in the 2030s as well.

Here are two Disney Adults playing The Price is Right with horribly overpriced Disney merch you can buy on the company's online store. The price tags for this stuff are insane. For example, Christmas tree ornaments that retail for over $100 just because they have Mickey ears. The second video includes a Star Wars pen that retails for thousands of dollars.

The Elsa and the castle in the thumbnails are so fucking ugly, like DIY projects made out of cheap sequins.

They're like an ugly version of those DIY diamond paintings.

As a home owner, I can’t see what the appeal of having those things is. They’re tacky and seem to take up a lot of space

A pen? Dont any of you have car repairs like tires or power steering pumps to dump that cash into, or hell, just savings? Even on frivolous things, I could buy multiple Xbox's in a row with that, at least 100 Gundam model kits including the best tools on the market, enough junk food to last a month- the list doesn't end.

Imagine falling and hitting your head or skinning your knee and mom won't take you to a first aid station because getting in line for a ride that you won't even get on for over an hour is more important than your wellbeing.

That's a horrible parent especially if it's a young child. Even if you're a teenager, I'm still going to ask if you need help. Even if you have kids, doesn't mean you've grown up and matured enough to be ready for them and all the trouble that entails. Start small, buy a dog or cat first, something you have to be responsible for, to protect, then have a kid if you were unsure before. Too many broken families and messed up kids in this world because of irresponsible parents.

When Steamboat Willie enters the public domain next year Mickey’s design in it will too (the version with the beady eyes), as well as his design in the earlier cartoon Plane Crazy. The reason why Mickey in his entirety won’t enter the public domain until 2036 is because that will be 96 years after his current design (the one with pupils) was created.

The really expensive stuff is from Arribas which is a glassworks company.

That's assuming Disney doesn't fuck with copyright law again.

It doesn't even look good! It looks like an amateur's first attempt at jewelry making. This is something I would expect to be sold for $10 on Etsy, not almost $100 by a multi-billion dollar company.

I've heard it's unlikely that Disney will try to bother with copyright law again because people are far more aware and organized about copyright matters than they were decades prior. That said, I've heard that Disney might try to trademark that animated logo they use in all of their movies lately, the one where an animated Steamboat Mickey transition from pencil sketch to clean line art to full ink drawing. If they can get away with that, they can keep Mickey out of the hands of the public for a few more decades by claiming any use is violating their most recent trademark. It's a nasty little loophole that I wouldn't put past Disney.

In a just world, Mickey would have become public domain a decade or so after Walt's death.
