I totally get it that you got upset after the MTG swatting and wanted to get the person(s) who did it.

What I don't get is: What where you planning to do if you found the person(s)? Like compile evidence and sent it to the cops or what?

I was going to contact law enforcement through a relative's friend.

But the thing with law enforcement is: At some point someone -you, your relative's friend, Claire, whoever- would have to do some explaining to LE. Like how you find the person(s). Show them some proof. How you got that proof.
I doubt giving them a name and just say "I think this Mr. X here swatted MTG and he tried to blame it on me by using my account name that I use in this infame gossip and obscure niche forum called Kiwifarms that the mainstream press and Wikipedia use as synonym for swatting" would trigger them to investigate it.
And no matter how I think about this particular point and play it through my head it always ends with the person doing the explaining looking like this to the cops:

They messed with a congresswoman, she's hardly some random nobody so I thought it would have some merit.

The main problem with this was that I probably made it pretty clear that I was going after them instead of gathering information behind the scenes and keeping things on topic with the idiots I tried to talk to.

I didn't even think about what would happen after law enforcement is contacted.
