That cage isn't suitable for any living creature. Gerbils and mice are kept in much larger habitats, similar to the ones @Totallyunknown described for hamsters - large aquariums, DIY habitats made out of giant plastic totes, furniture converted into enclosures. Cages like the one she has shouldn't even be sold, and are universally considered inhumane unless they are being used temporarily for transport or as a hospital cage (meant to intentionally limit mobility for healing). For example, gerbils need 8 - 12 inches of substrate alone, plus an above-ground area.They bought that hamster as purely a prop. It was during the time when she was getting backlash for calling out Alaa's wife. That cage is way too small for it. Despite people telling her this she is putting her foot down only because she doesn't want to buy a bigger one. But sure, she loves animals and cares about their well being. The cage they bough is suitable for a gerbil or mice, not hamsters. Of course she double's down on the lie saying its for hamsters when anyone with eyes can see that it isn't.
