Finally, where are the animals Penny? Where are the alpacas, the geese, ducks, chickens, sheep, goats, dogs??? It's so fucking telling that TUR went radio silence on what was one of the core values of the Tranch.

If they rehomed them, the only reason I can think they kept silent about this is that people may start asking "why do you need grift bucks if you have no animals to take care of?"

Just throwing it out there, but another possibility is that the animals were given away, but the Tranchers aren’t saying anything because of who they were given to. Their narrative heavily relied on their evil Trump-voting neighbors all hating and wanting to sabotage them. I’m sure it wouldn’t look too great if Earl & Co. ended up being the ones to take in their livestock in the end. (Who knows about the alpacas, specifically, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to offload some chickens, goats, etc. onto the neighbors.)

What the fuck is balancing a checkbook? I have never used a check in my entire life. I am not young either. I remember my parents doing it in the 90's?

Back before even ATMs were common, you'd have a checking account, and a checkbook. Every time you wrote a check, you'd write it in a register in the checkbook, and do the math to see how much was left in the account. You'd also write down any paychecks you deposited, cash from the bank, etc.

Every month the bank would send you a statement (and the cancelled checks) and you'd go through and compare the statement to your records, make sure everything lined up, and find any discrepancies. It wasn't super common, but checks could get lost, delayed, etc, and you'd then have to track it down and find out wtf was going on.

I once spend over two hours helping some poor girl balance her checkbook because she couldn't get it to line up; ended up having to basically do algebra to work out the discrepancy and work back from there to find out where she was double-subtracting some values. Insane stuff.

Now you see everything in your bank instantly and people don't even bother tracking how much money they have left; you can just login and see. Banks don't even send you scans of the cancelled checks anymore unless you bribe them (or have a VERY old business account).

Got to say, I’m skeptical of the claim. Was it *really* any worse than the tranch conditions?

“Couldn’t stay on topic” seems to imply they were off their faces, where it could have been just wanting to talk about other things than the elephant in the room.
From my recollection the tranchers at least seemed comfortable or happy with the visit at the time.
Wasn’t this also part of the pitbull pup arc?
