That is the face of someone who is desperate to keep The Narrative in place. Someone who knows everything's slipping out of his hands. Look at that shit. Oliver's about to fucking cry. He knows what's coming in 2024, and he'll do everything in his power to try and prevent it.

e: To be fair I have seen one piece by John Oliver that I 100% agreed with him on and that's asset seizure/forfeiture cases where the pigs pull people over and just steal their shit. God Help you if you're driving up the East Coast and have any significant amount of cash on you and you get pulled over.

One of the worst lies in modern politics is the lmao weed = free money for government. Red states should do this more to force another reason to keep the blues from infecting them. No killing babies, no legal weed, no kid trannies. A better place.
I've gone from being mostly neutral about stoners to unironically wishing for a final solution to the "dude lmao weed" problem. They are so fucking obnoxious and I hate standing in a cloud of funk everytime I'm waiting to cross the street.

Scott Greer is right. Anti weed shit should be a part of the conservative platform.

Oh yeah the Civil Forfeiture one was good as well. He was okay at first but I really question the lack of follow through on the payday loan shit.

Oliver started off pretty strong but degenerated into a screeching libtard with a british accent and for some reason people love that shit.

@Sniperwoof My concern over weed is more that the shit now is so insanely strong we have no research on what it is going to do to people but there may be an issue:

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Bay Area emergency room doctors say they're seeing an increase in the number of patients presenting with what had been a rare reaction to cannabis use. The I-Team looks into the uptick in Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome cases.

When prescription back pain medications made Kathleen Adams groggy, she switched to cannabis as a more natural, holistic alternative.

"This was the cartridge right here that goes onto the little battery," said Adams while holding up a vape cartridge.

At first her back pain subsided, but after a couple of years she says she needed more cannabis to get the same relief.

"The last purchase I made was a very highly concentrated 97% product and I went through that in just a couple of days, whereas normally it would last me a week and a half to two weeks," said Adams.

In early February, Adams woke up sick to her stomach, vomiting profusely and unable to regulate her body temperature. "I've had babies, I've had kidney stones and this was by far the worst, most uncomfortable, painful, scary thing I've gone through," said Adams.

She went to the emergency room, where she was treated for a stomach bug and sent home. A few days later, she was back in the ER.

She mentioned to a doctor that scorching hot baths brought her some relief. "And a lightbulb went off for him and he said that sounds like CHS," said Adams.

CHS stands for Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. "It's essentially a syndrome of cyclic vomiting that happens almost always when it's related to cannabis or marijuana from chronic everyday use for quite some time," said Dr. Christopher Colwell, Chief of Emergency Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.

Dr. Colwell didn't treat Adams, but says the number of patients he sees like her is up. "Before I might see it once a week, maybe a couple of times a month, now it's pretty much every shift," said Dr. Colwell.

Dr. Colwell says legalization of marijuana has played a role.

Dr. Keith Humphreys, a professor of psychiatry at Stanford University who studies addiction, agrees. "Most of the growth we're seeing in American cannabis consumption is in this population of people who maybe used to smoke once a week or twice a week and is now smoking many times a day, and that is the critical risk factor for developing this condition," said Dr. Humphreys.

Dr. Humphreys says often times people who don't realize it's cannabis making them sick will ingest more in an attempt to alleviate their symptoms.

"There's nothing inherently good or bad about the plant at all, it can be useful and have health applications, but also, like any other drug, it can have adverse effects," said Dr. Humphreys.

Which is why Adams is sharing her story.

"I really don't want anybody else to go through what I went through and not know what it was and continue doing it," said Adams.

She says since she stopped using cannabis, her symptoms have improved significantly. "I encourage everyone to be very careful and very cautious and know your body," said Adams.

Is it possible for them to get on track with that? Conservative politicians have been very good at losing ground and giving up on issues entirely, even if the will of their constituents is strong.

Actually does anyone have this? It's the 4chan copypasta where the guy explains that late night shows are psyops that are attempting to condition people to automatically associate ideas the regime is hostile to with ridicule and mockery.

I used to have it in my le based /pol/ memes folder but lost it when I switched PCs.
James Lindsay broke it down fairly simply:

Jon Stewart convinced almost every Millennial that its shameful and cringe to hold any views coded "conservative." The damage this did is almost incalculable.
Once shame and embarrassment are conditioned into you, it's easy to change the contents of the code. Jon Stewart made fun of very little that was actually conservative. It was almost all neoliberalism, but it was called "conservative." Now believing men and women exist is.
It doesn't matter if a view is actually "conservative" or not. Once the psychosocial architecture is in place, it only has to be CODED as "conservative" by the opinion-setters, and all that cringe and shame bubbles up and does all the work necessary to destroy it.

I know this will get me stickers, but consider this: china is more less chinese, the usa is deeply divided. china has a long history of getting fucked sideways from each angle, worst case they'll just go back eating each other like they did 60 years ago. the usa's last "hardship" was... the american civil war? dust bowl? pearl harbor? 9/11? either way hardly comparable. china still has a large poor rural population who won't even notice the country imploding, not so much for the american rural population - and that's before you get into the chimpout-population that's gonna make the summer of love 2.0 look like south africa when they don't get their gibs in time.

the usa might bleed less, but they'll feel it a lot more.
America (and Americans) have grown fat and complacent on the teat of cheap consumerism. The bleeding will be unpleasant, but some diseases cannot be dealt with without unpleasant and uncomfortable treatments. A bit of temporary hardship that puts us back on a better path is preferable to maintaining the current rotting status quo.

At the end of the day, America does not need cheap Chinese goods. We don’t even need to talk about going cold turkey or revitalizing American manufacturing - a lot of companies are already starting to diversify out of China (personally I’ve been seeing a lot of “made in Vietnam” and “made in Thailand” recently). China on the other hand most definitely needs American corporations and consumers.

We already do more trading in manufactured goods with Mexico than we do with China. Industries have been diversifying out of the PRC for 15+ years now because a) the rise in Chinese GDP/their aging workforce meant their workers priced themselves out of the market compared to other developing countries, and b) Western companies got really tired of the obvious cycle of their investments in Chinese manufacturing for value-added goods lasting maybe 18-36 months, before the Chinks reverse-engineered the IP and kicked them out to make their clone.

And it's really difficult to get the Chinese to do precision manufacturing properly. They couldn't even manufacture a ballpoint pen without sourcing the tips from more competent nations until 2017! Their machine tolerances are utter shit. So anything that isn't some injection-molded, cheap crap with low tolerances went elsewhere.

When I think of the saga of the Rising Tiger and China's attempt to become a high-end manufacturer, I think of how in the early 2000's, my father's trips abroad to optimize the company's factory were to Shenzen. By 2009, they were to Chang Mai.

If you have nothing to live for or believe in, you commit to it for your own purpose. It can be anything. Trust me.

The same weed apologists who will swear up and down that "I know that one super successful businessman who tokes up everyday man, the 'stoner burnout fuckup' is just a meme man!" Would laugh at the suggestion that the minority of respectable and productive black people invalidates the nigger stereotype.

Out of the dozens of stoners I know literally only one has a decent job and that's because daddy owns the company. Every other one has a low level fast food or retail job and they spend 75% of their income on weed.

I always though my grandfather was exaggerating about the green menace but yea pot makes you a lazy fucking dipshit.

Most stable weed users aren't always like "dude weed lol" all the time and just smoke once in a bit at home. So you don't even know they really do it most the time unless you get to know them well.

Stoners annoy me too even as a weed smoker.

That is levels of gaslighting that should be illegal.
It should get an award. This is a transcended level of mental gymnastics - merely twisting and weaving through space as we know it was insufficient, this one opens a passage through a neighboring reality where the fundamental laws of reality can be bypassed. Its the only way I can think of that showing people footage of an event is lying to them about the event. They're not even claiming "lies of omission" type deals, just straight up "The video showing our narrative is wrong, that we as the government supplied to them, is a lie".

Who do you think has it worse: John Oliver, or Stephen Colbert?

Oliver. Since Colbert isnt an expat whos despised by his home country. Its not like john can go back to the UK and be on one of those panel shows if his HBO show crashes and burns all of a sudden. I think his wife is rich so he'd be fine unless they separate.

weed is like alcohol
someone using it once in a while is fine
but someone who bases their life around it is a shit
