Anime News Network (ANN), Christopher Macdonald & Co. - "Unbiased" Reporting on All Things Anime Related By Snobbish Quebec-Based Web Company. Acquired by Kadokawa.

My guess would be because she's friends with Lynzee or has some dirt on her, one or the other.
Kinda like how Hope was still able to keep her job cause she slept with Zac.
Those types always stick together no matter what.

Interestingly, Caitlin started writing for ANN immediately after Lynzee took over from Zac. Her first review (Maison Ikkoku) went up a little less than a month after Zac passed and Lynzee claimed his position. A few months after that was when she started writing for the Preview Guide, replacing another guy who retired. Draw your own conclusions from that.

So whose dick or clit is Caitlin sucking to stay with ANN? She has a history of being a fuck-up and looking really terrible on a PR standpoint. ANN is far from being a respectable news site anyway, but other places have terminated people for less. She has no real pull for them to continue making excuses for her and she's openly angry about everything, so why is she still with them?
These places aren't meant to be anything but a clubhouse where losers can feel they have powers. Once their parent company sees the loss of revenue expect for some firings with more business oriented people

To be honest, Zac did worse like tell staff off to their face. So it's not like they have high standards there. I have no idea why they're tolerated and not completely circumvented.

yeah i havent been in tune with her stuff for a while precisely because i know her and reading her is like reading the ramblings of a psycho, but i know some of her old stuff, specially when anifem launched:
-she disclosed info after interviewing sayo yamamoto and other anime director about how tboth of them hate moe and supposedly told her that off the record, later on someone asked both directors in a Q&A at england and they completely denied saying anything remotely close.
-yamamoto specifically said she was misrepresented in the interview.
-she bullied ppl on the internet saying something like "i have more power than you while i hated anime" ppl have archives of that to show she isnt really an anime fan.

funny thing is that she was gloating about how "i sit down interviewing 2 of the most influential anime directors, i have more power than u a weeb on the internet" and she ended up being told a liar and later on completely removed from participating in such interviews due to being a cunt and a liar
Can someone tell me who the other director was and if there was any archives of the spergouts? I'm having trouble find this.

All of your characters are very strong and self-reliant women, but at the same time many of them are put in kind of dangerous situations that are very alarming for western audiences.
The absolute irony and idiocy in this statement by the interviewer.

Perhaps the pancreatic cancer Satoshi Kon died from came from him being exposed to ANN's toxic stupidity.

On a related note, the interviews try to finagle in some sort of angle, such as that Bastard! interview about the sex and violence or trying to make Satoshi Kon say he hates moe while making Tokyo Godfathers strictly a film with a social statement:

This fucking cunt...

1: I don't think Japanese have a term like "toxic masculinity" in their dictionary. Hell, they have "sekuhara" from "sexual harrasment", but no such things as "tokusiku masukiriniti" or "tokumasu", or even a more literal "yūdokuna otokorashisa" (tho this one is bit too literal) they just don't have that term. They do have a literal terms for misogyny (on'nagirai) & misogynist (josēsabetsushugisha), no one uses these either.

But then again, these google translate type of translators are retards who probably actually think "lolicon" stands for pedophilia/pedophile, despite no Japanese actually using that term as such, & there specifically being an actual word & term for it, so it doesn't surprise me. I also remember Kim being a lolcow, like everyone else in this clique, so it doesn't surprise me.

Edit: I was right, they indeed did add "toxic" in this interview on their own. The OG interview only had masculinity in it.

2: Her cuntyness makes it so that you can't even have good faith talks with her, let alone logical conversations. Her passive aggressiveness is massive turn-off for the very thought of talking to her.

3: Not providing the JP text literally insinuates this dumb cunt & her clique have tampered with it & are trying to play superior in the name of "her friend's honor". Also, I don't think the JP staff gives a shit if you post the JP text or not (could be wrong tho, but I don't think they would), so I think she's just lying here.

4: I also refuse to believe she cares about approval from Japan for this shit, her own friend (Caitlin) literally is not doing interviews anymore due to fucking up & purposefully misrepresenting shit.

5: Blocking SHD just proves everything else.

she was the chinese director that work together with yamamoto in studio science saru. dont remember her name.
specifically she did say some shit about fanservice in that interview but the whole stuff is very dubious if ppl said they were misrepresented.

the interview with yamamoto is also very confusing as it doesnt state explicitly what moe is and it conflates it with fanservice and then with nudity, if i remember correctly. it was obvious they were leading her to say something that could be translated maliciously

She's such an insufferable twat. Thankfully, the production blog posted the interview in Japanese on their tumblr page. Here's the post with the link:

Sevakis is such a self-important prick. Imagine interviewing a master like Kon who has never directed modern moe stuff before and then inserting the fact you are butt mad about moe as some some irrelevant gaijan into the interview for no reason, literally trying to get him to attack other people's works instead of talking about his own and then saying something very creepy and personal like, "How do you see women in your life, and how do they affect the women you draw?" trying to bait him into some kind of male-feminist diatribe. What a complete idiot. Kon doesn't even answer his question because it's so retarded if he even understood what the hell he was yapping about.

It really goes to show that even when trying to put the progressive label onto reviewing anime of this caliber, they end up subtly demeaning and at worst be condescending to the Japanese audiences who are being talked down by these kinds of American writers that only premed to like their entertainment as long as it does not hurt their feelings.

Another Caitlin review from last season's preview guide I just got reminded of. "None of these are accessible to your average English-speaking fan. In short, chances are this anime is not for you. You are not considered part of the audience. And if you are part of that huge majority...." nice patronizing bullshit! What if fan translations of that shit already exist with how dedicated idol fans can be? What if even if they don't, it isn't THAT inaccessible? Better yet, what if some people just want to watch an anime about boy idols?

The review had her even trashing Futoku No Guild for being bad in an ”offensive” way, as if her ecchi anime reviews are not considered bad in an offensive way.
