What the fuck is balancing a checkbook? I have never used a check in my entire life. I am not young either. I remember my parents doing it in the 90's?

I've had to use a check in some niche circumstances where I didn't have cash on hand and online payment wasn't an option, but 'balancing your checkbook' does not necessarily refer to the usage of checks, it's just a saying that boils down to keeping track of your finances. The 'balancing' part coming from balancing your income with your debts; a reminder to live within your means.

It's a fairly common term and I have a hard time believing that you've never heard of it or don't know what it means.
