You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

I'm sure this is just an unconscious force of habit, but what bothers me is when people use "we" to refer to an indeterminately large group.
It drives me nuts when people do this for sports teams. Nitpicky, but grown men referring to their favorite American Football teams as "we" will never not make me cringe inside and out.

another thing which grinds my gears is when people act smug about knowing the answer to some puzzle, riddle, or brain teaser, but they only know the answer because they were told it rather than figure it out themselves. it's like nigga you aint that smart, i know you was told the answer just 5 minutes ago.

the only time when i found that acceptable was when in college. it still is cringey but not quite as much. it's like okay you go to the same school and are even on the same class as some of these guys so i can give a pass on saying 'we' when referring to the school's football team.

People who think that art or anything made by man needs to serve a vital philosophical purpose in order to be important and worth defending.
I remember a white-guilt ridden cuck I used to know (he LITERALLY was a cuckold so I'm not even saying that out of spite) who was saying we should have made better use of the internet and that if in a hypothetical scenario we had to stand before God and defend the printing press or the internets' existence that would we choose to use cook books and porn as our number one justification.
Of course, he never actually tried to inflict using social change himself using the internet despite having a limitless amount of free time but that's beside the question.
I straight up asked him "what the fuck is wrong with cook books and porn?" and pointed out the practicality of learning to make food and porn helping quell sexual violence in society.
Of course he only had copes but he seems to think the only thing that makes art endearing is if it's philosophical, and more specifically, politically.
Which to me is fucking retarded.

Comedy is usually completely devoid of serious existential thought, and even if comedic media has a meaning, it's usually tacked on.
Genre pictures are great for escapism and expressing imaginative thought.
There's plenty of "pointless" books, movies, songs and inventions that don't answer any great questions or promote social change but still do society much more good than any psuedo-intellectual propaganda ever could.
The idea that art has to have a very specific purpose in order to be of value is what is killing mainstream entertainment and the internet. People don't need to be thinking of every single fucking problem in the world all of the time, especially for people that don't neccessarily give a shit about them either. These people are so self-aggrandizing they can't for a moment realize that other people don't want to live in shit like they do.

Sorry for the long rant but I really, truly despise that notion. It's funny because it's only ever put forth by worthless shitty human beings that can't be bothered to fix their own problems or do any good for the world themselves. Who'd have thought that people that don't understand the value of entertainment and reprieve were also all terminally miserable and shitty to be around.

People who constantly cheat and fuck around, and the second they either get cheated on or find out nobody wants to be with them they start crying and making a fuss to anyone they think will listen.
I'll add to that anyone who somehow has to try to make it about """their""" turmoil afterwards.
There's been so many times I encountered a dude cheating who when I asked the reason they used "the depression" as a crutch and tried to make it into how it was something "on both sides" in order to seem less like an obvious sack of shit, but make themselves into a bigger one in the process.
Same goes for women who miraculously cheated and then would bring up to everyone how much they hate their ex and how abusive they were. When asked for an example of the abuse it's usually a list of copes that boil down to "he didn't indulge me enough".
I get people make mistakes and life is complicated but just be honest that you fucked up or were unhappy with where you were in life, don't become a bigger cunt by blaming your spouse for your infidelity.

This doesn't piss me off all that much, but I hate it whenever I say a statement, like "X tends to do X" and some dude says, "Well, not every X is like that!" or "I know someone from X who isn't like that!", like that's not the point. Sure, there might be some that are exempt from the statement, but generally speaking, most of them are like or do that. For every X that is different from their crowd, there's 10 more that are literally what I'm describing.

I also hate it whenever I'm arguing with someone on the Internet and they just send me a link with a caption, "Read this" and it's so long, like at least summarize that shit, I'm not reading all of that, and whenever you ask for a TL;DR, they always dodge it by accusing you of making excuses, like man, is it really that hard to summarize something you've already read? The only reason you aren't giving me a TL;DR is if you actually haven't read it or read only a few sentences and that's it. Also, don't get me started whenever they give video links and it's like 10m+ and they give no additional information, like a timestamp or something.

People who use lack of pay for why people do shitty jobs.
I keep hearing this line of how teachers/cops don't make shit and that's why they do the shittiest job possible.
I'm not saying that's not entirely true, but it also is a defeatest, indulging cycle to excuse people with a lot of power. Nobody said these people had to be teach class/put on the badge but most kids don't have much of a say in going to school. When you're in a field where your actions are going to have ramifications on the futures of several people, maybe try to put aside you're not making 60k a year and try to actually take some pride in what you do. Yeah it sucks, but at least you'll be a little better remembered by your community if you're not an asshole cop or a prick to your students. I understand dealing with little hellspawns/criminals all day weighs you down but maybe if they did a better job they'd be getting a better salary. You can't expect more than shit pay when you're producing shit results.
I also don't think some of these people are making a slaves' wage. I know teachers who live relatively fine alone in a home with a decent car and expendable income or cops able to support a family off their income when they're only doing the most basic level of work.

Not saying this as an attack specifically on those two professions but those are the ones I see it used most for. If a job is really grinding you down so much and you're able to, try to find an occupation that you can deal with that doesn't involve shittily potentially hundreds of people.

Though I don't work in customer service anymore, it still upsets me how people think it's okay to abuse anyone working customer service. Whenever I'm shopping, I always treat customer service workers with the dignity and respect they deserve.

However, that's not to say there aren't any bad customer service workers. However, I find it odd how they seem to get nice customers while the nice employees get the bad customers.

The worst part of it isn't even the customers doing it, it's the complete kneeling and indulgence most retail/food service does towards that shit. I can't list the amount of times I've gotten shit for calling a customer out or not serving them when they were mistreating me and my coworkers. They don't want you to just take it, they want you to take it with a smile.
I think that's literally the biggest problem in modern America across all subjects. We started rewarding sociopaths. One of the reasons I will never work retail again and urge no one else to.

Carrying an entire conversation by yourself.

I get that sometimes people just don't want to sit down and talk, or maybe they have nothing to provide to the topic, maybe they're just not the talkative types, they just listen and absorb... But my god, is it frustrating to get nothing but "yeah", "wow", "fair", and if youre texting, "lol".

You might be thinking "Read the room, Psyduck! Maybe you're rambling to people who didnt even want to talk to you" and you'd be right if that was the case, but these are people that *willingly* hang out with me over and over, so if me rambling is the problem, they sure dont act like it

It grinds my gears when I see people do this with Xbox and Playstation brands.

Yes, I've really seen that.

There's a chance they care about hanging out with you even if they don't give a shit about or have anything to add to whatever it is you're rambling about.

Got a text from a close friend utterly frothing about AI and I haven't responded because I can't bring myself to tell them lmao lol suck it up.
If someone's art is threatened by AI, then it is soulless. It brings me joy to see the majority of people screaming are coomers who specializes in drawing shovel head anime characters.
I hope over time, this will encourage others to turn back to traditional mediums and get good. :)
I also love seeing humanity reflected in AI chats as they must be contained from being offensive in any way.

They've actually told me so before lol "dude i like you and hearing ramble is entertaining as hell, even when i have no idea what the fuck youre talking about"

I take it as a compliment, yeah, but still... Sometimes i do want to discuss what i rant about too... *sigh*
