Jack and Tam have bought their desired land in the boonies, and their only acknowledged son is a dumbass who has not yet fucked up his back, in a dead-end hourly job where paid caregiving wouldn't be a big step down in income. It'll just take some guilt, free rent, and the promise of inheriting the family land. Park a trailer next to the house, family caregiver program, remind Tammy Jr. that per Scalfani tradition her duty is to be the adult in the family and have a real job out in the World.
At least Tammy was smart enough to get an accounting degree, which at least has some market value, a real career path, and you can do it at a desk.
Tammy junior has a criminal justice degree,
assuming she finished it. That's not the easiest field to work in when you have a brain tumor, headaches, and fainting. Even if she can handle being a cop, the salary for that in Nashville is only going to be $50k. Wouldn't be crazy to pull in an extra $25k in overtime, but Junior needs a mommy wife and I don't see that happening. Her only job experience is customer service for some absolutely disgusting scam company that rips off elderly veterans.(1) If she's still doing that, there's no way she's making more than $30-$35k
Junior is a half-step up from completely unskilled labor. There's no way he's making more than $30-$35k.
Briana's family is broke white trash who can't even contribute to her brain surgery. They're not going to help.
Jack and Tammy were leveraged to hell and back before the medical accident. Hell, an accountant for the company that makes the chairs sold outside of Cracker Barrel isn't making enough to support their lifestyle. Jack spends dramatically more than he makes in income. They could potentially be really financially over extended, and they're unable to help the kids.
These kids are financially fucked. The parents can't picked up the slack. Junior is a loser who will never accomplish anything in a career. Briana has a practically useless degree. She'll never be a breadwinner. Hell, I fully expect the Knocked Up Saga to start any day now, and then they're truly fucked.
These guys will inevitably be back and living with parents until their fourties or enter a downward cycle of poverty that they'll never escape from.
It's depressing. I feel bad for briana. She fucked her entire life up marrying junior. Smartest thing she could do would be to get the best job she can, find a roommate, file for divorce, and start over. But she won't.
(1) They target elderly people who are having trouble getting VA claims filed and approved. They charge exorbitant fees and don't do much, if anything, to help. Anyone who has an issue with something like that can call their Congressman or Senators and they'll work to fix it for free. Hell, nonprofits have caseworkers that will do this for free too. There's no reason for for-profit organizations like this to exist, and it makes me MATI.
