Let's pretend for a second that this was a real relationship. Try.
Chins maturity level is about 15-17 about romantic relationships. So she meets a cute guy who pays attention to her, gives a lot of talk about taking care of her "I can show you the world", etc. She gets a lot of shit from friends and family so after awhile, she thinks its "me and you against the world" and decides they should be together no matter what.

So, she moves across the world to live with him. At first, its all so exciting and sparkly. She's in a romantic bubble where everything is perfect and even if its not, she will pretend. She especially needs to pretend so she can rub it in the faces of all the people who is telling her she is making a mistake. Being a 15 year old, her motto is "We will live on love"

She lives in a fartbox and can barely move around in it, partly because she is huge and partly because it is so small. Trying to cook without a counter is challenging and every time she moves she knocks something over. She has no hobbies or interests other than eating and watching true crime and youtube so she spends most of her time sitting around doing that. Occasionally her HUSBAND takes pity on her and takes her for a drive that includes take out.

After awhile, the disillusion starts to set in, things look dirtier and shoddy, the lack of space becomes claustrophobic and the new HUSBAND is spending more and more time away. But its okay because he is really starting to annoy her by telling her what to do and Mr. Perfect is no longer perfect. He rarely takes her anywhere now and he is constantly badgering her about cleaning up the fartbox and he is getting so much on her nerves she wants to scream. Living in a shithole becomes very uncomfortable and living on love is no longer working and she is sick of living poor. She is also craving weed and coke but has no outlet. She regrets her life.

Then summer comes. oh god its all the above plus trying to escape the unbearable heat in the fartbox. The AC pretty much feels like hot desert air but it's better that suffocation without it.

She tries to put on a pretense to everyone that life is beautiful and she doesn't need anything else but God, but the cracks start to appear. She has gained 50 pounds and no longer fits into the largest clothes in Kuwait. Soon she will start displaced raging because she can't rage at the only person she knows in a strange country. And soon she will be totally miserable. And totally trapped.

Of course she doesn’t mention the fact that being morbidly obese your entire life cuts your life expectancy in half. Also (and sorry to cat sperg but it's Chins herself keeping the subject alive), if she had brought BBJ to the vet, she could have treated some of BBJ's conditions early, so at least she had a better quality of life before Chins decided to get rid or her. Same with Sam. The shaving of his fur was taken care of as soon as the new owners got him. "Apparently this helps." Why didn't you find that out, Chins? And I've never seen Sham look so peaceful.

Okay, not a pet owner, so I'll take my trashcans. Why would Sam need to be shaved?

Was his fur so matted that it couldn't be properly brushed, so they shaved him? Or does he have some kind of skin infection that the new owner needs to put medication on, and they can't get to his skin unless they shave his fur? Is it a cleanliness thing? Something else?

My inquiring mind wants to know.

It was probably poopy matted butt fur, like what was described via BBJ's vet visit. We have seen Chantal shave his butt on the kitchen counter before.

It must've been bad to have resorted to shaving. I haven't groomed cats, but I have dogs and it's the same thing with long fur and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the matting was against the skin and not just not surface level knotting. It causes pain and skin irritation and add to that poop and pee.

Animal fur has scaling, so it can felt. Just imagine your head hair being pulled by tension and then also having it felted to your head like a bad weave job.

@walkabout123 likely a mixture of both. Long haired cats are very high maintenance with their coats and require regular grooming and upkeep to avoid knots and matts forming and to keep foreign objects (like poop) from getting entangled in their fur. It can be uncomfortable / painful for them to have badly matted fur and the long hair makes it much easier for mites and pests to take hold. The reason given was dander, kind of like dandruff (can’t google but it’s basically skin, hair, saliva etc) which regular grooming can help mitigate however it’s much more likely he had badly knotted, poopy fur similar to BBJ and the ‘friend’ was just being nice in her explanation to Chinny.
