"Current year" terms that piss you off

"Creator" "Content" "Influencer"
It's all corpo speak that has somehow found itself in common use.
"Content creator" I hear it a lot from youtubers that don't want to call themselves youtubers.

"Self-identify as Black" said without an ounce of irony.
"Trust the science" is the most annoying slogan possible.
Joyous movement; Marginalised bodies

"Living my best life"
Thank god I've only ever heard black women say it and haven't seen it spread to the cultural cosmos but jesus it's still cringe. I don't even know what I hate about it but it just sounds so fucking bad every time I hear it.
I think the visceral reaction to it, at least for me, is that it's usually said by the same type of people (usually women and "women," let's be honest) who would talk about their "Haters" and other narcissistic stuff. There's a certain self-importance or something to it and it's often said by someone who has made major fuckups but usually avoids taking ownership. You know, like someone will cheat on their boyfriend or make some ridiculously dumb statement and get called out, and in an act of defiance will be like "Whatever, I'm living my best life so everyone can talk they [sic] shit." Even though it's usually women saying it, I can completely imagine Ethan Ralph hollering that line out after taking a Xanax.

For what it's worth, I've seen "Living my best life" used plenty of times and it's mostly been by white women who fit the description that I mentioned; I don't know if it originated with black women, but it certainly isn't just them using it.

Thank you for actually describing exactly why I hate that sentiment. I knew there was something itching me about it but could never narrow it down.

"People who are pregnant," which is just a variant of "birthing people."

WOMEN get pregnant. WOMEN give birth. We call these women MOTHERS. No matter what they say, so-called transmen are women. They are mentally ill, mutilated, disgusting, self-hating women, but they are still women. Every day, these fuckers give me more reasons to hate transgendered people and their enablers.
