You cannot make this shit up.
Her views for coding gay characters this way are so confusing in a story where most do the characters in Hell are gay in some way despite being an insane LGBTQ activist. What is she trying to say exactly? Is it a far more basic political statement about Christianity itself given the satirical nature of the HH universe is it just a simple message about ‘God hates Fags’ and a statement on the morality of that world that the dominance religion has on it means the standards for heaven are fucked up?

I think maybe its leading into towards a moral statement about the fucked up rules set by society for who gets into heaven and hell? That's what I love the most about this show, even if the humour and character writing isn't always of the highest quality the questions itself offered about morality is great. Like who are the real villains? Is heaven really that much less corrupt than Hell? Have we put morality on such a high pedestal that it’s been impossible to get into heaven? All genuinely fascinating moral concepts that this series could explore.

We also didn't need yet another character with daddy issues. Viv obviously wants Crimson to be another hate sink like Stella, but three abusive dads is pushing it. They could've had him be shitty in other ways.
And not just having Crimson be an abusive parent but also made Moxxie unintentionally kill his own mother if that was what the flashback was suppose to reveal.

How ironic (and based) that the only parents shown on HB that have a healthy relationship with their children are the ones from Hell's "flyover country".

Like I said before, we see some really evil individuals, so it would be hard-pressed for Heaven to actually be worse. Besides that, if Hell wasn't substantially worse than Heaven, the plot of Hazbin Hotel probably wouldn't exist, since Charlie wouldn't need to beg for clients, some of the better people would just come.

It's just one own-goal after another for this show isn't it? This constant tone that runs counter to their views is probably one of my favorite things about this show.

I think it's actually fine Vivz can actually tolerate and even express views counter to her own as compared to the usual bullshit where not even villains are allowed to express such opinions without getting accused of endorsing them yourself.

Can she really tolerate other views, or is it more that she just can't help herself when it comes to inserting gay characters even when the setting carries negative implications?

I was indifferent to this episode on a first viewing, but it's coming around to me on the second. So far this season we're three for three for character background episodes. Now that Viv' has taken us back to the past, to see the shitty Dads who suck ass, I'd rather have a hellhound, take a diarrhea dump in my ear, I'd rather eat the rotten asshole of a road killed imp and suck it down with beer, than watch another flashback.

It's disappointing that Moxxie is so thoroughly emasculated by everyone around him. I hope they give his character some opportunities to stand up for himself through the rest of the season.

Chaz is annoying. I'm glad he's dead so we don't have to deal with his stupid character anymore. Millie showing no affection for him whatsoever and flatly rejecting his advances fits her character perfectly. It felt like they were setting up Blitzo to do the exact same thing, which would have been a nice moment of character development, but i guess they needed to have him end up in the trunk for the plot.

Moxxie killing his own Mom by drowning her in a fucking river was pretty dark, even for this show. Interesting choice on his part that he did that, and chose to pursue the profession of hitman.

Some good laffs, nice background details as well - Blitzo's whiteboard of fantasy slut ponies. The house full of dicks was a bit much.

Something funny I noticed re watching the show was that Millie's trans sister has masculine imp horns. All of the male imps on the show have horns with bands of roughly equal black and white proportions. All the female imps have horns that are almost entirely black, with only small white bands.

I also noticed that Blitzo and (young) Fizzarolli have the same crest on their heads, despite not being blood related. I don't remember seeing any other imps (not related to Blitzo) who have crests on their foreheads.

I understand the criticisms of the world building, but at the same time it's not the focus of the show. Having the show set in contemporary Earth - except it's Hell - is the fastest way to setup a backdrop for a plot that's largely centered about interpersonal conflict. I can forgive the writers for not wanting to waste time with small details that most viewers aren't going to be bothered by. With that being said:

I'd argue that the more you look at the setting the less sense it makes. As other kiwis have pointed out -there are cops in Hell. Even if Hell works off Bioshock-eqsue anarchy-capitalist rules where the fire department, cops, ambulance etc are privately owned subscription services, there's still a jail/prison where criminals are sent. That means Hell has some kind of legal framework where certain things are Halal (Murder, televised assassination businesses) and other things aren't (stealing from other demons). The prison system is a relatively recent invention. For most of history "justice" usually meant "quid pro quo". Criminals either settled their crimes via financial reimbursement, or suffered some form of corporal or capital punishment. Jails were just a place to temporarily hold criminals before a sentence could be carried out. Ironically the modern prison system (hypothetically) focuses almost entirely on rehabilitating criminals back into functioning members of society. AKA the premise of Hazbin Hotel.

Assuming that wealthier demons hire private security that function like cops they would still need to reimburse them for their services, E.G. pay them. I.M.P. is hired to do hits and Blitzo employs M&M to carry them out. Paimon pays Blitzo's dad with a wadded up five (not a gold coin/precious stone/doll's head - Something with intrinsic value to a demon). All this means that hell operates some system analogous to that of fiat currency. Someone, somewhere is in charge of printing/circulating/certifying etc a medium of exchange with an agreed upon value that demons honor. Somewhere in Hell there is a central bank in charge of Hellish monetary policy.

Hell has public infrastructure - there are roads and streetlights. We've seen demons eat (and get fucked in the ass) which suggests that they also piss and shit. so Hell presumably has indoor plumbing, sanitation, water treatment etc. In the real world these are public services, funded through taxes, which implies that Hell also collects taxes from it's citizens and there's a Hell IRS. Chaz's car has a vanity license plate which suggests that there's some department in Hell responsible for registering vehicles. Why does Moxxie's Dad care that his son fucks dudes when most of the stigma around fucking dudes stems from Christian taboos (Unless he's upset his son is a bottom, which is understandable). And so on, and so forth.

The list goes on, but none of it really matters. It's not what the show is about. In reality an actual Hell with a history that wasn't parallel to Earth's, full of demons and sinners would be so weird and fucked up that it would be totally alien to the viewer. You could writer a show about it, and it would be pretty interesting (IMO) but HB doesn't waste time on this shit because it would only slow the show down and add needless complexity.

In other Vivienne news, she blocked the YouTuber, JLongbone, even though J does not have a clue as to why. Speculations range from a block chain, J's wrongthink on trannies, or her association with EFAP.

I'm genuinely impressed that this fanbase has not cancelled Brandon Rodgers yet. From saying the word "nigga" despite not being an unga bunga, and joking about tranny's, rape, racism against multiple groups, pedophilia, having Hitler in blame the hero etc.

OH AND WE CAN'T FORGET HIM SAYING *GASP* THE RETARD WORD!!!!!!!! Screenshot 2023-03-12 062623.png

I say that was a 'did not hink through this' ituation. Vizzie lived by her liberal ideals and wanted to write a story about Hell, but was too focused on diversity instead of getting the implications. She i stuck after she released the thing.

I liked this new episode. I hope there's more like it, instead of having the series become the Blitzø and Stolas show (as much as I like Blitzø). Nice to see more character development for Moxxie but I honestly hope for one of Millie. But judging from Vivz's treatment of her female characters? Probably not happening.

New episode!!
I really liked this one! We got to see another ring of hell and how they operate, we got to meet Moxxie's old man (though I too wish his voice was different, it's already shit he looks too much like his son but Horvitz doesn't have a big range. It should've been someone else), and even met Moxxie's old fling which he thankfully traded up for. My only complaints is Moxxie not getting a chance to be badass but be a damsel again and Millie was reduced to being the doting wife/badass again and not getting much else to do. Same shit different episode.

Considering he converted the entire house to “gay mode”, or at least what he believes is “gay mode”, it does seem like he cares about him at least a bit. In a warped sort of way.
True. People were saying he's the most homophobic dad on the show but if that were true he would not have converted the house's walls to have dicks on them and forced his son to marry another man for money. I would say he's more homo-illiterate if that's a word.

I took a quick peek at this literally-who's twatter and she said this while retweeting HH/HB fanart. Guess """"""transphobic jokes"""""" mean jackshit when there's cartoon demons to consoom. Well it means jackshit anyway but you know. 🚬

Everyone keeps saying that Moxxie killed his mom, but if you looked closely at the tied up demon in the boat, that is not his mom. I believe Crimson killed her before that, hence why we see the shoe float up.
Wait, people didn't interpreted that scene like that? I think it was pretty obvious that the guy Moxxie threw into the water was someone else, and the implication was that his mom crossed his dad a while ago since she was absent from the family table before the boat scene and only her shoe floated up, implying she's been at the bottom for a while now.

You know, I don’t think the show is perfect or anything, but seeing how absolutely pants-shitting furious parts of Twitter gets about the show is ridiculous. Imagine pitching a fit that characters born and raised in Hell are shitty/evil/degenerate/ect.

If I ever made anything that got popular, I would never go online under my real name/identity again.
