You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

I feel like thats a "we" as in the team plus the fanbase ya know?
Ehh, it's still cringe even if that's the case. Bands' fanbases don't brag about how great "our" concert went last night, or how well "our" album sold. It's just sports retards. "Yeah, bro, we scored 35-24 last night" is not a statement that makes any sense.

yeah but after following a team for a certain amount of decades it becomes a part of your identity. like if i see a hs friend i havent seen one of the first things hell bring up is my baseball team

I usually give the benefit of the doubt for poor service. Maybe they're having a bad day. Maybe they're distracted. Maybe they've spent the entire day getting shat on by everyone who came through the door and are on their last nerve.

It takes active malice before I'll start Karening out.
Good point and I actually agree. Having once been a customer service worker myself in the distant past, I know it's easy to become disgruntled in that line of work.

I remember I've said this before on my previous account, but people in general really overestimate the importance of customer service. Every customer is a drop in the bucket. Only a fool would think a business values customers beyond the profits they generate. I'm sure there are a few rare businesses that DO care about the customers, but again those are the exception not the rule.

Also, most customers think bullying a low-rung employee is equivalent to "sticking it to the man." They've deluded themselves into thinking they're activists and martyrs fighting for a noble cause, when they're really just immature adults throwing tantrums and picking fights over stupid meaningless shit.

Sorry for the small rant, but it felt good to get that out of my system!

Between working retail, working behind a computer at a desk, or working in a factory, I'd say that my time in Retail was hell on Earth, working behind a desk was fine, and working in a factory was hard but satisfying.

I genuinely pity people working in retail/food service.

I had my last computer on 24/7 for something like 10 years. It doesn't hurt it.
I still run a 2006 Core 2 Duo (the very first generation) machine as a local file server. It's been running more or less continuously for over 16 years.

I think I had one RAM stick fail years and years ago, but other than that I just clean the dust out a few times a year and it keeps happily plugging away.

I used to do that, but ever since the covid lockdowns customer service has become absolute dogshit. It gave everyone a handy list of excuses for why nothing ever gets done.
This has impacted everything, and I really mean everything. Fucking medical workers at hospitals. X-ray techs, pharmacists, secretaries making your appointments, primary care providers, every-fucking-thing and every-fucking-one. They got used to doing buttfuck nothing for well over an entire year and have zero interest in going back to the already half-assed norm. Hearing absolutely anyone complain about how overworked medical staff were during the coof makes my blood boil, because I know for a fact and have seen with my own two eyes that not only is it a lie, the truth is the exact opposite.

If you had anything, anything at all that needed to be seen to by a doctor that wasn't the coof or some kind of big emergency like a broken bone or needing several stitches, fuck you. And if it was the coof, fuck you, stay home and isolate, don't come into the medical facilities.

My favorite ancient computer running forever story involved a Novell Netware server somewhere I worked. Everyone had used it for years. One day it failed. The place had fairly high turnover, and literally nobody even knew where it was. Tracking down where it was was not easy, because while every computer was plugged into the network, it was a mess of routers and repeaters and junk.

The wiring was a total mess of tangled wiring under floor tiles and rammed into conduit which wasn't big enough to contain it all so eventually they'd just started hanging it loose.

It took nearly a day to track it down, and it was on another floor on the opposite side of the building in some maintenance closet for no comprehensible reason. It had been there for over ten years with nobody even looking at it. The fan had clogged with dust and lint so it finally overheated.

Updated Netware and turned it back on. Never saw it again.

tl;dr Netware was really insanely rock-solid. And computers can be left on forever.

Not to mention the rampant stolen valor. All of them pretend they're a Goddamn Marvel hero jumping around saving lives when in reality only a small fraction of those people are Emergency Room staff digging a bullet out of someone's chest or reattaching a severed limb. The rest of them are useless paper-pushing bureaucrats with cushy 9-5 jobs stapled to a system that's supposed to be helping people.
Also, it should be against the law to refer to your practice as an "urgent care" if it's not open 24/7.

Carrying an entire conversation by yourself.
That's really bad but the one that's the most nerve-wracking is when someone else is FORCING the conversation to be one-sided by never shutting the fuck up. Said people tend to be the most boring, annoying people as well to boot.
I don't mind monologues or rants but if you want to talk to me
1)do not look at your fucking phone when I'm talking
2) don't interrupt me.
3)don't take forever to get to your point, especially when there is none you have.
4) don't talk about your day because I really don't want to hear about it most of the time
5) do not use something I said to say it reminds you of something that has literally nothing to do with what I said so you can talk about a boring event of no value in your life

You know what else grinds my gears?
Faggots worrying about an old movie/videogame/book being spoiled for them. It's not my fault you haven't taken the time to watch something ten years old. Most of the time it's not even a true spoiler, it's just a plot element within the first thirty minutes of said media.
It's even worse when the person it's a third person interjecting with "Oh shit, no SPOILERS" when the person I'm talking to doesn't care. I think the most autistic example of this sort of thing is when I have someone telling me about some obscure shitty horror movie or genre comic nobody has watched/read and earnestly actually stops to go "Well I don't want to spoil it for you."
Yes, please don't spoil a plot twist from a 20 year old cartoon that's literally the last thing on my watchlist, if at all. I don't know how I'll get through the day.

I used to do that, but ever since the covid lockdowns customer service has become absolute dogshit. It gave everyone a handy list of excuses for why nothing ever gets done. I went to a dealership that had my car in their garage (repairs done) for almost a month before anyone fucking bothered to call me, and that was after I called in to schedule an appointment and when I drove up to drop off the car, I found out no one bothered to record the appointment in their system. I can understand being busy, but being busy would also imply you would want to get fixed cars out of your limited space. I won't name the exact dealership, but it was a major American brand dealership. I'm so fucking done with American cars and everyone who services them.
That's literally happened to me before to the point I just didn't come back for the car and didn't pay them anything because it was a junker that wasn't worth the price and time anyways.
I think the biggest problem isn't even from the customers but the entire culture of retail in general.
There's usually 3 decent employees (if that) slaving away the work for the entire crew, who also treats them like shit. There's always "something said" to the employees causing issues but you know that nothing will ever actually happen to them, ever.
Meanwhile if one of the only okay employees makes a slight fuckup, they're dropped from the company without a moments' notice. The heads/managers of these companies will then complain that nobody wants to do honest work with a straight face.
This is why I don't blame some people for deciding to become government-financed niggers and suck on Biden's tit for as long as they can. It might seem lazy and unethical, but you get tired of trying to actually be the decent worker when there is no fucking incentive to be one.
I don't know if this is a thing worldwide but it seems like the modern day standards in America for how the working class can succeed is 1)be the most lazy, uncaring toxic sack of shit possible 2) get promoted for being such.

Imo the most self-evident examples I've seen were with mental health. I've seen so many actual sociopaths in the field that made me want to go Punisher on their ass.
Everything from a head doctor telling a suicidal girl it was her fault she was raped and the staff trying to prohibit her from talking to other people institutionalized about her experience, to people being abused and bullied in the ER, to staff using vhs tapes from the 80s as examples for coping mechanisms. Either nobody gives a shit or there's active, extreme malice.
Seeing this shit and recognizing that that behavior is probably the norm makes me doubt any feint semblance of faith in the human race I would have otherwise.

I'm pretty sick of this migraine that just needed to happen while I'm supposed to be trying to sleep. As if this daylight savings time tomfuckery with the clock wasn't annoying enough.

Getting some kind of pain or other uncomfortable ailment when trying to sleep seriously pisses me off.
Are you sure it's not a pain shooting up from the neck nerves, nothing worse than tweaking your neck and then trying to lay down and go to sleep, the whole night is a write off. One time I pulled a muscle in my back and I couldn't lay down so I sat at the computer on a weird angle and watched hours of DSP detractor content until I drifted off and had nightmares of snorts and acks.

What really pisses me off is when you go to sleep and some prick is playing some doof doof music somewhere in the neighborhood.

Thank God, no, but I have dealt with that before with an injury that required me to go see a physical therapist for one session to fix it. Sitting up hurt one way, laying down hurt another way.

I know this is the most ironic of places to say this, but I really have started to hate negative people recently.
I'm not that guy who's going to shit on a depressed person or think they need to wear a smile to lighten the mood for my selfish happiness. But I have had to cut a couple people out from my life because being around them just is... hard.
I think my biggest problem is with people who have relatively comfortable lives or who lack for nothing and still need to make every conversation... and I mean every one, about how awful the world is. Whenever you probe them for what specifically is bothering them, they freeze up or deflect. But they can name a million ambiguous socio-political/philosophical issues they have with the world, all of which aren't actually what's eating them away. I know the world is a fucked up place and getting worse by the day but I really don't want to hear that over a nice lunch sometimes. It just makes anyone talking about it seem like a bigger hinderance to humanity than any of the problems they're talking about. I don't care if it's conservative or liberal or religious or not or even if I agree with most of what they're saying; I can't listen to real-life doomposting constantly. I have an autistic fruit forum for that now.
The problem is they remind me of myself at my worst and how that mentality can turn you into a really toxic person if you let it. As someone trying to improve my life and my surroundings, I just can't handle that shit so much anymore. The world sucks, people suck, society is something we live in... but jesus christ it'd suck a lot less if I could have coffee with some people without being reminded of it.

With my welding, metal dust constantly keeps getting into the port of my phone, which is much bigger than Micro USB, and it just becomes a pain to clean it every few days. Also that internal stick is way more delicate. It only charges faster, the rest is a downgrade. I'm just glad my earbuds have a rubber plug that goes over the port. Something Samsung couldn't do for a 600 dollar phone.

Scamscum is just the Android Apple. Avoid. (Unless you're getting the fucker for a song or whatever.) Samsung smartphones haven't been good value in a while, their other electronics are debatable (their TVs are nice but overpriced, their appliances are needlessly-complex Internet-of-Things idiocy usually). I'm not fond of USB-C but those stupid little locking clips on MicroUSB were annoying as shit.

I hate Spamsung shit with a passion. I recently had to try to make a phone call with one and the UI is the worst shit I've ever seen in Android. I used to be the kid who would program the VHS to record shit at a certain time and even edit out commercials while watching in real time, and program the microwave, and shit like that that the old people couldn't handle.

And it took me something like 10 minutes to figure out how to make a simple phone call with this absolutely pathetic piece of shit.

I don't know how old people cope with this garbage. Because even I can't. It's infuriating when an ancient rotary phone could do something easily and the >current year technology is like wrestling a bear just to do the simplest shit.
