One argumen that always made me

Mad on the Internet was the argument: 'Homophobes are actually closet cases!'
Most obviously, that statement is obivously untrue, since someone might oppose homosexuality because of a religious background, from seeing the massive amount of diseases and abuse the homosexual community has, or simply noticing tha the two biological genders humans have complement each other in a way two people of the same biological gender never do, even after piling on the consent and infatuation.
A little deeper is the implications: wi the above reasoning, you can claim that anyone who denies bein gay is actually a closet case. Even if that is a straight or ace person reacting to baseless accusations, those making the argument would claim 'only a closet case would deny being gay!'. Moreover, that essentially cuts off any way a straight or ace person can prove thonself: a 'yes' answer will obviously be agreement, wherea silence would 'imply' tha the person is hiding thons homosexuality. In other words, straight or ace people who are merely accused of bein gay (which could also come from gender non-conformance, gender hyper-conformance, or simply be a random insult) are put in a
Bokurano situation: they can only submi to the label and suck up the lies, harassment, and misery. Years later, I realised that was called a 'Kafkatrap'.
However, th electrical outages from Hurricane Fiona left me with a lot o free time. Bored, I suddenly remembered this argument... and the following memetic quote from Big Mouth: 'Being young, gay, and mean is
not a personality.'
I really thought abou that quote. That quote implies that people can
lack a personality. A personality is your feelings and attitudes towards yourself, others, and the world in general. Moreover, while a lot of your personality comes from your inborn temperament, a lot of your personality comes from your knowledge, history, and even deliberate choices. Imagine replacing all of that with being young, gay, and mean. Since even your feelings, knowledge, and choices have been replaced with being young, gay, and mean, that means that your entire self, thoughts, and actions are strictly and exclusively about being young, gay, and mean. That is a sad, ruined life.
This also explains the narcissism: if being narcissistic did not make you ng, gay, and mean already, then replacing your personality with being young, gay, and mean will inevitably lead to narcissism. Suppose you have someone push towards the shutting down of gay bathhouses, which are tempting mass outbreaks of venereal diseases. If you replaced your personality with being young, gay, and mean, then that person who wants to shut down gay bathhouses is literally blocking and mayb even removing one-third of your entire being. In fact, since you are not going to be young forever (unless you kill yourself before then), and being mean tends to go away simply due to how volatil emotions are (especially if you are under infatuation), then all you really have are your attractions, which means that person is effectively erasing you. This becomes a threa to your entire being. Therefore, you end up screaming 'this guy wants to kill me and deny mi existevnce!!!!!!' To the person shutting down the gay bathhouses, th is a public health issue linked to conscious behaviours; to the person who is onl young, gay, and mean, th is literally genocide.
Also, remember that you would have replaced
everything, including knowledge and choices, with being young, gay, and mean. Whereas a normal person would respond with morality, facts, logic, indifference, or even an emotional appeal, someone who replaced thons personality with being young, gay, and mean can only respond in a way that is young, gay, and mean.
The inevitable conclusion is the ad hominem accusation: you would claim tha the person who wants to shut down gay bathhouses ecretly wants to cruise in them, instead. That is th epitome of a reaction that is young (resorting to emotion instead of reason, thinking that an emotional wound is a victory, demanding and insisting that others follow your narrow point of view, thinking that others already follow your narrow point of view, mixing the argument wi the arguer, thinking that 'no u'
by itself is a winning argument), gay (focus on homosexuality per problem and solution), and mean (emotional attack, refusing to even recognise the arguer, desire of destroying the arguer).
Though the focus of the above logic is on homosexuality, this can apply to th entire queer alphabet soup. After all...
Transphobes are just mad they will never touch our nice tits.
