Slight powerlevel: When I was actually doing undergrad, you had to either be taking a computer science class (even 101-level) or have a professor's signature to get an email account on the school's .edu. Maybe Tommy is thinking that rule still applies, and CompuServe is still a thing too (I had a friend who chatted with Douglas Adams on there on the reg, and I will kick myself forever for being too shy to ask her for his CompuServe number), because he's been all over Usenet for the last X hundred years -- so if that still exists in some form, why shouldn't all these other things be the same? There is no persuasive evidence that DES exposure causes intersexuality in DES sons, much less compelling evidence. We're now into tracking the third generation, so the physical abnormalities it produces are well established. There has been less research into DES contributing to mental health disorders, and that's pretty much at the stage of "someone needs to do gold standard studies on this but how the fuck do we control for other factors".

If anything, it would logically be the opposite. Estrogen, even synthetic, would logically make a male more female. If Tommy has complications from DES, it would have to be described as a male baby with mental problems stemming from prenatal exposure to estrogen manifesting in the belief that he is in fact female.
